GE Vernova Dedication Inspector/Coordinator (1st Shift) in Wilmington, North Carolina

Job Description Summary

Responsible for implementing QA requirements contained in Quality Planning, Engineering specifications, Order Entry Documentation, Purchase Orders, and applicable regulatory requirements. Responsible for dedication inspection of product and certifying this activity. Provides accurate and timely data analysis to support requests from customer, supplier, or Engineering. Frequently interacts with internal/external auditors, customers, and suppliers. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, engineers, auditors, management, suppliers, and customers. Can perform complex inspections and tests on product and material using standard and special gages. Must be proficient in utilizing complex test equipment to inspect electrical and mechanical components.

Starting pay for this position is $38.0646/hour and after 6 months of satisfactory performance, will increase to $38.6582/hour. The expected schedule for this position will be 7AM – 3PM.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

General duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs process/product quality evaluations, conducts special studies and projects as requested by Quality Engineers.

  • Investigates and recommends solutions to part quality issues.

  • Performs Product/Material certification activities.

  • Controls release and status of acceptable, suspect, and non-conforming material and products.

  • Responsible for the creation of detailed Quality Assurance Records documenting inspections performed.

  • Capable of qualifying for Level 2 non-destructive examinations (x-ray, UT, LP, etc.)

  • Performs complex electrical testing i.e., Carbon Brush Resistivity, Fuse overload timing, & Multi-function Instrument Relay testing. Equipment to be used includes: Data Acquisition system, thermal array recorder, Universal Relay Test System, Biddle DLRO and High Pot Tester, Multiamp SR-90 Relay Test Set, Programmable Power Supplies, and oscilloscopes.

  • Precise mechanical, visual, non-destructive testing, electrical testing and data evaluations requires high attention to detail, and accuracy in performance of all activities.

  • Performs Dedication activities per specifications, drawing or test plans on commercial grade items to upgrade to safety class items.

  • Work is performed in standard shop working conditions. Moderate and at times, considerable physical effort (50 lbs.) may be required.

  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in technical discipline (electronics, instrumentation or micro-electronic solid-state technology) or equivalent military, industrial or relevant college training

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with email (ex. Outlook) and two (2) years of experience with word processing. A computer skills demonstration will be conducted during interview process.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with geometric tolerances and dimensioning

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience reading engineering drawings and electronic/electrical schematics

  • Minimum of two (2) years of working knowledge of state-of-the-art test electronic/electrical equipment such as: digital oscilloscopes, serial line/multi-channel analyzers, frequency synthesizer, relay test sets, AC/DC power supplies, circuit breaker test sets, etc.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with digital/analog electronics.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Machine Shop inspection practices, including proficient use of all the following: Micrometers, Verniers, Dial Indicators. An inspection skills demonstration will be conducted during interview process.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience performing detailed mechanical and visual inspections.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with high voltages (at least 480 VAC) and high current applications.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with computer-controlled relay and circuit breaker test sets.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must pass QC vision test once employed.

  • High school algebra proficiency

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
