Amazon NPI Deployment Engineer, Deployment Readiness in Westborough, Massachusetts

We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery of products and packages which includes building custom hardware and applying robotics, autonomy, supply chain optimization, machine learning, manipulation, image processing, and real-time data processing using distributed systems.

The WW Technology Deployment org is seeking a talented and solutions-oriented NPI Deployment Engineer to contribute to delivering transformational innovation to the business. You will be part of a team with the mission to ensure that robotics technologies maturing through the development pipeline are vetted and tested in the field, during Alpha and Beta deployments, to identify and resolve issues upstream before deployments at scale. This role is a key part of a technical team, with the following responsibilities:

Key job responsibilities

• Participate in strategic Deployment Readiness projects with significant technical depth and breadth;

• New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer acts as the subject matter expert for deploying, integrating, optimizing, and implementing new Robotics solutions during pre-GA phases;

• Provide iterative feedback on Work Instructions and execution plans to achieve consistent outputs;

• Maintain and follow-up on action plan(s);

• Manage large third-party installation teams during the execution of Alpha and Beta deployments;

• Resolve field issues and ensure root causes are addressed;

• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards;

• Drive alignment of New Product Introduction strategy with internal stakeholders and external partners;

• Lead field trials, contribute to deployment guidelines and test plans/procedures in order to get Amazon Robotics solutions certified and deployed;

• Traveling requirement for this role is up to 75%

Basic Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Software Engineering or equivalent;

• 3-5 years relevant experience, preferably in an automation or robotics environment;

• Contribute to engineering efforts from design to implementation;

• Strong process improvement mindset for Agile environments, passion for quality;

• Troubleshoot hardware, software and networking issues;

• Drive adoption of best practices in field execution in a construction environment;

• Able to operate in a highly ambiguous environment;

• Excellent business communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders;

• Able to write clear and persuasive papers;

Preferred Qualifications

• MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication or Robotics or related field;

• Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate, Linux Administrator or Linux Engineer;

• Experience deploying large scale robotics solutions in both Greenfield and Retrofit;

• Technical expertise in Mechanical and Electrical components common in Robotics (i.e DC motors, PCBAs, metal fabrication, gears/bearings, sensors, vision systems, etc.);

• Proficiency in Linux administration and troubleshooting;

• Six Sigma Green belt;
