Legrand NA Sr. Data Engineer in West Hartford, Connecticut

Position Description

Legrand is actively seeking a skilled and motivated professional to join our team in a dynamic and flexible work environment that fosters innovation and creativity. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our IT team, being responsible for crafting, implementing, and maintaining robust data solutions within the Legrand technology stack including the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem. Your expertise in Microsoft Azure services, particularly Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake will be pivotal in designing and optimizing data pipelines to support our organization's data-centric initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Architecture Design

    • Design and implement data structures for use with Microsoft Azure services, including but not limited to Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Working with data architects to develop and manage data models to ensure scalability and optimal performance.

  • Data Integration

    • Design and coordinate the implementation of ETL processes, leveraging Azure Data Factory, SSIS, and other relevant tools.
  • Ensure seamless integration with diverse data sources and existing systems.

  • Recommend and implement optimized data integration dataflows and pipelines, focusing on efficiency and reliability.

  • Data Governance and Security

    • Collaborate to establish and enforce data governance policies and standards within the Legrand environment.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure data protection and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor, identify, and address data security and privacy issues effectively.

  • Performance Optimization

    • Identify and address performance bottlenecks within data processing pipelines.
  • Implement optimizations to enhance overall system performance.

  • Collaboration and Documentation

    • Work collaboratively with data scientists, data architects, data analysts, and stakeholders to comprehend and address diverse data requirements.
  • Thoroughly document data engineering processes, data flows, and architecture for knowledge sharing and reference.

  • Collaborate seamlessly with the broader IT and cross functional teams to align data solutions with overarching technology strategy.

Qualifications

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in designing and implementing scalable enterprise data solutions.

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure services, specifically Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and Visual Studio

  • Expertise in data integration modeling, optimizing, and designing scalable data structures and scalable ETL processes.

  • Experience developing data extraction and transformation of

  • Enterprise Resource Planning Systems Data (JDE, SAP, etc.)

  • flat file integration solutions

  • relational, non-relational and unstructured DBMS systems

  • Experience with Agile methodology is required.

  • Strong programming skills within the .NET Framework.

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop and manage project plans, establish priorities, work to deadlines, and control multiple projects at various stages.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels.

  • Independent, motivated, critical thinker, and strong self-learner.

  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance best practices.

  • Knowledge of a large variety of business specific data structures: warehouse management, logistics, engineering, finance, sales data, human resource.

  • Azure Databricks platform

  • Architecting and implementing Enterprise Big Data solutions
