Job Description

The Department of Accounting, Finance, and Economics in the College of Business invites applications for the Instructor & Director of the WACO Outreach Accounting Program/Masters of Accounting Coordinator position located on Tarleton State University's Waco, Texas campus location. This is a non-tenure track, 12-month appointment with administrative duties associated with the program director role as well as teaching/service duties. Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process and will also participate in the necessary operations of the institution. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate. Requires the ability to teach and/or work remotely at the University’s discretion. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

40% Teaching and Service - Develop, implement, and review effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology, and other tools; Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline; Develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning, including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes; Exhibit a mature view of the academic discipline; Work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and identify professional development activities to improve student learning. May be required to teach at other campuses online. Maintain an appropriate schedule of office hours for student access and inquiry; Work in partnership with student success personnel on student advising and orientation. Participate in institutional service roles such as but not limited to, college committees, club sponsorship, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.

30% Waco Program Director {administrative) - Facilitate the growth of the accounting program at the Waco campus by working with students, supporting Tarleton and McLennan Community College staff and faculty, and establishing and maintaining contacts with local employers of accountants. The director should advise accounting students in coordination with the advising staff, provide degree plans for each Waco Accounting student each semester; Oversee internships, including outreach to local firms to create internship opportunities and then match students to those internships; Meet with local firms and government entities to identify and create internship and job opportunities for our students and place students in those positions; Facilitate visits by CPA firms at least twice in the fall and spring terms; Liaise with the accounting faculty at McLennan Community College to facilitate the pipeline for new accounting majors into Tarleton's programs; Visit MCC's principles of accounting classrooms to bring as many students as possible into our program; Coordinate with Waco Outreach and serve as the AFE department's official point of contact; Advise and counsel the department head on accounting course scheduling for the Waco campus; Selecting and overseeing graduate assistant tutors for the AFE lab in Waco.

30% Masters of Accounting Coordinator (administrative) - Take a leadership role in department meetings to inform and consult with accounting faculty about the needs of the program; Stay up to date with changing guidelines and regulations of the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, the CPA and CMA exams; Be responsible for MCSB accreditation efforts in the accounting program; Update the academic catalog and program handbooks for accuracy; Develop individualized degree plans for graduate accounting students in coordination with the Graduate Program Manager; Represented the department to the TSBPA and TXCPA and at graduate university functions; Encourage students to pursue a Masters degree in Accounting at Tarleton; Advise and counsel the department head on graduate course scheduling, accounting faculty hiring, program enhancement, and coordinating transfer student credits; Other duties related to the accounting program as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Earned masters degree in Accounting or Taxation from an accredited university

Three years of teaching experience and/or administration

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrate ability in the discipline and show clear promise of teaching excellence as evidenced in evaluation by peers, department head, and college dean
