Network Designer 4 Description: Work statement is a non-managerial role, non-leadership role Leads efforts to analyze Sat Com terrestrial network service architecture and recommends design solutions that are aligned with industry leading or best practice to lower costs along with being knowledgeable of national and international technology standards in regulated and non-regulated environments. Performs leadership role to develop, design, integrate and deploy Palo Alto appliances and Cisco VXLAN fabrics in a variety of data center and Sat Com remote environments. Utilizes cross-team collaboration to build policies for Network Infrastructure deployments with focus on efforts to address concerns in Service Architecture, Incident detection, incident handling, and vulnerability management. Leads and coordinates high level implementation planning for strategic multi-technology insertion projects. Mentors technical staff and management on Industry best practices and technology standards improvements. Leads and performs the identification, analysis, and documentation of requirements for network LAN technologies and services (e.g., wireless, data, voice, video, cable, wire) based on customer goals, objectives, cost and security constraints, to lead the design process. Leads and performs implementation planning for tactical multi-technology insertion projects, using established project management methodologies for the purpose of controlling costs and ensuring adherence to project plan. Required skills: • 10+ years of experience with Design, Implementation and Troubleshooting of Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) • 10+ years of experience with Cisco routers and switches & Cisco IOS implementations • 10+ years of experience utilizing Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) network protocols • 5+ years of experience with written and verbal communication and presentations • Extensive experience with Palo Alto firewall implementations Preferred skills: Advanced understanding of Tiered Network Design – 3-tier vs. 2-tier and Collapsed Core. Advanced understanding Routing protocols such as BGP, OSPFv2 & OSPFv3, IS-IS and EIGRP. Advanced understanding of Data Center Protocols such VXLAN, EVPN, MSTP, and RSTP. Advanced understanding of WAN Topologies and Protocols such as MPLS and Frame Relay. Advanced understanding of Content Load Balancing and Web Application Firewalling. Advanced understanding of Monitoring protocols such as SNMP, RMON and WMI. Advanced understanding of Identity Management including Cisco Identity Services Engine, Active Directory, LDAP, and Multi Factor Authentication systems including RSA SecurID and TOTP. Advanced understanding of network security systems including VPNs, Firewalls, and IDS/IPS. Advanced understanding of Server Administration including Windows, Linux, and MacOS. Understanding of Virtualization platforms including VMWare ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Oracle VirtualBox, and Linux KVM. Preferred network design skills: Multi-Tiered Architecture WAN Integration into the Data Center Layer-3 Switching Problem Solving Process improvement Communications Network Design Principles Network Security Network Automation Education / experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.).
