SUMMARY:

The Fire Inspector I, under supervision, completes fire and life safety inspection procedures, ensuring a safe environment for faculty, staff, and students by identifying unsafe conditions. Assists campus staff with the correct procedures for completing fire drills for campus facilities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs fire alarm, sprinkler, and fire extinguisher services, testing and coordination.

  • Performs fire and life safety inspections and assists in the performance of those inspections in campus buildings, residence halls and others. These duties may require operating a university vehicle.

  • Assists in completing fire drills for campus facilities.

  • Responds to fire alarm, fire sprinkler, fire extinguisher calls and provides resolution.

  • Completes required fire pump testing.

  • After hours on call includes nights and weekends.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: High school degree

  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Two years of work experience. Oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid Driver’s license.

  • Physical Requirements: Be able to climb ladders.
