Job Title: Compliance Manager

Reports To: Director HSE/Compliance

Position Location: Vernon Hills, IL

FLSA Status (Exempt/Non-Exempt): Exempt

Position Summary:

The Compliance Manager will ensure trade compliance at all levels, adhering to both U.S. and international laws related to international trade. This role includes compliance with corporate policies at Cole-Parmer Instrument Company LLC, thereby enhancing business objectives. Responsibilities encompass guiding sites in creating procedures that comply with U.S. and local import/export regulations and integrating compliance into the corporate management systems. Additionally, this position will oversee aspects of product stewardship, e.g., TSCA, PFAS, REACH, and ROHS regulations compliance, ensuring comprehensive adherence to all relevant compliance standards and international trade regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with departments like Sales, Operations, Marketing, and IT (worldwide) to optimize trade compliance processes, aligning with global requirements while minimizing costs.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs officers, and brokers to manage customs and regulatory matters effectively.
  • Develop methods for reporting trade compliance performance and support internal assessments, audits, and proactive compliance issue resolution.
  • Develop and train stakeholders to ensure compliant operations.
  • Oversee corporate compliance standards, including automated screening, product classification, and controlled product listings.
  • Partner with IT and business units to meet local needs and educate on intercompany transaction requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts for customer delivery, operational excellence, and compliance, minimizing organizational risk through proactive management and training.
  • Enhance import/export knowledge and practices across the division, staying updated on relevant laws and practices.
  • Execute additional tasks as needed.

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, or International Trade and/or regulatory fields from an accredited higher learning institution or the equivalent work experience.

Experience:

  • 5-10 years experience in compliance management with demonstrated experience managing compliance activities in a multi-national company, preferably in a scientific, or industrial capital equipment industry.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience in global import/export supervision, with logistics experience or a Customs Broker\'s License as a significant advantage.

Willingness to travel globally up to 10%, possessing strong independent judgment and the ability to manage multiple priorities and ambiguity in alignment with strategic goals.

Strategic thinker with proactive response capabilities and proven change management skills effective on a global scale.

Ability to navigate complex matrix environments to gain buy-in and implement processes, coupled with strong problem-solving abilities and a keen desire to learn.

Advanced analytical and statistical skills, capable of developing metrics with proficiency in MS Office.

Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative setting, able to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
