Job Title: Director, Planning and Procurement

Reports To: VP, Operations

Position Location: Vernon Hills, IL

FLSA Status (Exempt/Non-Exempt): Exempt

Position Summary:

The Director of Planning and Procurement plays a key leadership role in leading and optimizing the planning and procurement functions within the organization. This position involves strategic planning, supply chain management, and procurement operations to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. The Director will provide guidance to the planning and procurement teams, collaborate with cross-functional departments, and contribute to the overall efficiency and success of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for planning and procurement functions to align with organizational goals and objectives.

  • Oversee the end-to-end supply chain, including demand forecasting and inventory management.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain.

  • Lead procurement activities, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management.

  • Implement best practices in procurement processes to optimize costs, quality, and delivery timelines.

  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing planning and procurement team.

  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture within the team.

  • Collaborate with other departments, including finance, operations, and sales, to understand their needs and align planning and procurement strategies accordingly.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination across the organization.

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, market fluctuations, and other factors that may impact planning and procurement activities.

  • Develop and implement contingency plans to address potential challenges.

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of planning and procurement operations.

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on performance metrics and industry best practices.

  • Develop and manage the budget for planning and procurement activities.

  • Implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality and service levels.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)

  • Proven experience in leadership roles within planning and procurement, with a track record of successful strategic planning and execution

  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain management principles, procurement best practices, and industry trends

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills

  • Ability to analyze complex data, make informed decisions, and drive process improvements

  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools for planning and procurement operations

  • Experience motivating and leading diverse teams to meet/exceed expectations

  • Quick learner, ability to pick up and create procedures and processes quickly

  • Ability to streamline work process/flows for maximum efficiency

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, efficiently works under pressures, within deadlines or other time essential constraints

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly and concisely communicate to all levels of the organization

  • Strong work ethic and an ability to excel within a rapidly changing and growing organization.
