JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Statistics (http://science.psu.edu/stat) , in the Eberly College of Science (http://science.psu.edu/) , seeks to hire a motivated and talented Graphic Design Specialist (Intermediate Professional). The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating and executing various projects related to multimedia development which may include photography, video development, user interface/web design, and creation of graphics for our online classes.
Primary duties will include:
Collaborate with online course team to assist in the development of accessible content: illustrated diagrams, color accessibility, visual branding, wireframe development, and user interface best practices
Assist faculty teaching online classes to develop instructional videos, by building technical workflows and resources, and video editing
Advise and collaborate with the online course team and faculty on best practices for multimedia design and usages
Work with faculty and staff to create brochures, posters, displays, exhibits, presentation booklets, other meeting materials, etc.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to maintain online newsletter with design and layout, photography, graphics, and written content
Manage the production of digital media and offset reproduction of publications, graphics, displays, exhibits and other projects
Assist with departmental audio/visual support for public facing lectures and events.
Act as a liaison with University committees and task forces
Manage departmental social media profiles
Education and Experience:
Requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Successful candidate will work well independently and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Candidate must demonstrate strong knowledge of audio/visual best practices, basic writing skills and provide a creative body of work in an online portfolio. Technical skills include: video editing with Premiere; design development with Illustrator and InDesign; photo editing with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop; front end web development with HTML and CSS; and familiarity with DSLR camera systems.
Additional experience preferred, but not required:
Creation of motion graphics with Adobe After Effects
Audio recording and editing with Adobe Audition
Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices related to copyright
Knowledge of Content Management Systems such as Drupal/WordPress

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.
This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with an excellent possibility of re-funding.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$51,000.00 - $74,000.00
