About the Opportunity This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [TE] Location: Northwood, Ohio A. Duties Under directive supervision, an employee in this position is expected to install, inspect and maintain and perform minor troubleshooting and repair on a variety of communication and control facilities and carry out assignments independently or with the assistance of other employees; performs duties such as: 1. Installing, transferring, repairing, removing and minor troubleshooting of two-way radio equipment. 2. Installing, inspecting, maintaining and minor troubleshooting of leased telecommunications facilities, such as provided by common carriers; 3. Installing, inspecting, maintaining, minor troubleshooting and minor repairing of channel equipment (PCM, Multiplex); 4. Installing, inspecting, maintaining, minor troubleshooting and minor repairing of microwave radio and associated equipment; 5. Installing, inspecting, maintaining, minor troubleshooting and minor repairing of Remote Terminal Units (RTU); 6. Installing, inspecting, maintaining, minor troubleshooting and minor repairing of carrier current equipment; 7. Installing, inspecting, modifying, checking, minor troubleshooting and minor repairing of electronic equipment and systems as assigned; 8. Installing, inspecting, modifying, checking, minor troubleshooting and minor repairing on new and existing equipment and facilities, wiring and terminations of such things as power, coax, ribbon, waveguide, optics, signal, control and leased circuit wiring; 9. Effectively communicating with all corporate elements, as necessary, in an effort to resolve any problem with equipment design or other constraints and failures; 10. Accurately marking drawings showing as-built or modified; 11. Organizing and completing installation and revisions of moderate complexity to electronic systems; 12. Maintaining all test equipment in a responsible fashion and being accountable for repairing and/or reporting any failure of test equipment to supervision; 13. Performing any substation operations or switching necessary to safely isolate equipment on which work is to be performed; 14. Performing any substation operation as directed by supervision or dispatch personnel; 15. Performing preventive maintenance and verifying proper equipment operations; 16. Fabricating and testing electronic assemblies from drawings; 17. Making required reports of installation, maintenance or repair work and/or logging entries as required by the Federal Communications Commission; 18. Checking, testing, and adjusting outdoor tuning and coupling equipment; checking and tuning wave traps; 19. Demonstrate competency in the job on an ongoing basis; 20. Being accountable for all work performed; 21. Keeping up-to-date, by use of technical publications, books, and other means, with new or improved electronic developments, equipment and maintenance methods; 22. Responding to after-hours calls, participating in on-call procedure; 23. Operating Company vehicles and equipment as assigned; 24. Directing and training employees as assigned; 25. Keeping work area in order, cleaning
