LOCATION/UNIT: Facilities

TITLE/SALARY GRADE: Motor Vehicle Operators, SG-7

SALARY: : $36,040 annual (NOTE: current or reconstructed salary for state employees in accordance with NYS Audit and Control)

DURATION: Permanent - Full time

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The selected candidates will drive a variety of motor vehicles, primarily a bus on and off State property. Driver will be responsible for the transportation of people or cargo, maintaining a log, pre and post trip inspections, vehicle cleanliness and basic maintenance. When no driving is available, drivers will aid other departments (weeding, moving furniture etc.) Candidates must also pass a mandated per-employment drug screening test. Motor Vehicle Operators are subject to random drug screening tests throughout their career and are required to abide by the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 (OETETA). Participation in the License Event Notification System (LENS) is required.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess a New York State Driver's License appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Candidates will be required to possess a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and air-brakes. Training will be available for candidate(s) to obtain their CDL. Candidates should also have basic vehicle repair and maintenance knowledge.

OPERATIONAL NEEDS: This is a full-time position based on a 40 hour work week. Normal operating hours are 06:00AM - 2:30PM or 07:00AM - 3:30PM. These hours are subject to change depending on operational needs with the potential for overtime and overnight trips.

Approval must be granted by Civil Service prior to filling this position pending clearance of re-deployment roster, transfer list, preferred list, reemployment roster, or placement roster.

In accordance with the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act" institutions of higher education are required to prepare an annual report containing information on campus security policies and campus statistics. This report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by SUNY-ESF; and on property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies concerning sexual assault, and other matters.
