Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$110,400.00 - $182,200.00

What Is the Opportunity?

The Systems Engineer/DBA resides in The Cloud, NoSQL, and Open Source Database Team, within Database Engineering. Duties include standing up and migrating on-premise databases to new public cloud services, upgrading DocumentDB, DynamoDB, MongoDB, MySQL, Neo4j, and Postgres to new database versions, implementing database encryption, expanding self-service offerings, resolving incidents, and conducting customer consultations. Off-hours support will be required on a rotational basis. Under general supervision, plans at an operational level designing and developing databases interfacing with appropriate customers, management and technical resources. Facilitates and/or participates in the design, development, and implementation of large, complex database systems supporting one or more business and/or technology areas. Develops, manages and implements appropriate solutions that may involve multiple platforms, databases, software/hardware, technologies and tools. Strong ability to multi-task in an environment of changing priorities. May direct project staff in the development and implementation of database systems in support of business requirements. This job may manage or lead others.

What Will You Do?

  • Develop built in data security, auditing, backup and recovery capabilities for public cloud, NoSQL, and open source databases at scale.

  • Develop consumable API’s to provision, deprovision and suspend database services using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.

  • Design and implement multi-region and fault tolerant services that offer the maximum availability for mission critical applications.

  • Design and implement real time monitoring and alerting that integrates with the application stacks to provide a holistic view of a service.

  • Build clear and detailed reporting on utilization, cost, and service metrics to predict business trajectory.

  • DBA responsibilities include monitoring database performance and tuning database access, troubleshooting and researching database issues, security administration, quarterly and one-off patching, backup and recovery planning, capacity planning, database creation, upgrade, and maintenance throughout the application development life cycle.

  • Position requires the ability to interface with business customers, management, and technical resources to facilitate application development, database design and implementation of large, complex database systems which support one or more business and/or technology areas.

  • Position requires the ability to multi-task in an environment with changing priorities and provide direction to project staff in the development and implementation of database systems in support of business requirements.

  • Education:

  • Bachelors degree preferred in in Technology or a similar field (or equivalent experience).

  • Has thorough working knowledge of all tools and techniques required for area(s) of responsibility and a thorough understanding of the business that the assigned projects are supporting.

What is a Must Have?

  • 5 years experience in technology.
