The Ruhlin Company Fleet Manager in Sharon Center, Ohio

The Ruhlin Company is seeking to hire a Fleet Manager at its corporate office in Sharon Center, Ohio (Medina County). This position reports to the Equipment Manager and is an officed-based role (no remote or hybrid option available).

Summary: Oversee the daily operations, regulatory compliance, and maintenance of the Company’s fleet which includes light and heavy-duty trucks and trailers.

Responsibilities:

Administrative

  • Assist the Equipment Manager with daily dispatching functions such as procuring hauling permits, scheduling, and moving of equipment and materials, and other logistical functions.

  • Perform additional assignments as directed by the Equipment Manager.

    Compliance

  • Maintain driver qualification files that are FMCSA/DOT compliant.

  • Ensure the fleet is FMCSA/DOT compliant.

  • Work with the safety and human resources departments regarding drug testing, medical examiner certificates, motor vehicle reports, and other driver qualification related requirements.

  • Perform periodic fleet audits to ensure proper registration, insurance, annual inspections, logbooks, pre-trips, etc.

    Maintenance

  • Coordinate with outside service vendors for fleet maintenance and repair needs.

  • Work with the Service Manager to maintain and further develop the preventative maintenance program.

  • Monitor and effectively manage the day-to-day service operations of the fleet in coordination with the Service Manager.

  • Prepare work orders for required fleet service; coordinate the scheduling of repairs with the Service Manager in a timely manner.

  • Review with the Equipment Manager, equipment for efficiency and repair cost and recommend replacement or disposal.

    Safety

  • Coach drivers on the proper loading and securement of equipment and materials.

  • Ensure fleet equipment is used properly and safely.

  • Participate in the investigation of all incidents resulting in damage to the fleet.

    Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years on-road fleet maintenance and FMSCA/DOT compliance experience preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years CDL driving experience.

  • Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) deemed acceptable by the Company.

  • Previous FMCSA/DOT Compliance Training preferred.

  • Familiarity with FMSCA/DOT regulations.

  • Basic understanding of fleet maintenance.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to effectively provide training and education to other employees.

  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 and HCSS Maintenance Software.

  • Team focused mindset to build strong working relationships.
