Amazon Private Brands is looking for an experienced Sr Manager, PM-T to join our Private Brands Intelligence (PBI) team to scale our Supply Chain needs to match business growth through Science and Engineering solutions. The PBI team blends Machine Learning, Statistics, Economics, and Engineering to develop products that drive decision making for Amazon’s retail business. Our products focus on automation to reduce manual effort required to execute complex business processes, and reduce reliance on human judgement by providing actionable insights and performance tracking. We are an interdisciplinary team of Product Managers, Economists, Engineers, and Scientists incubating and building day one solutions using cutting-edge technology, to solve some of the toughest business problems at Amazon.

As a Sr Manager, PMT on PBI you work backwards from the needs of the business to bring structure to ambiguous problems. You set the vision for your product space and outline a roadmap that delivers incremental value to the business as you work towards the product vision. You have a clear understanding of business needs and impact, and use that knowledge to define clear product priorities. You pro-actively engage with partners to anticipate the changing needs of the business. You communicate clearly to your team, partners, and stakeholders the vision, priorities, and trade-offs.

This role is critical to ensuring the success of projects supporting millions of customers in their shopping missions as well as a significant portion of Amazon’s revenue. A successful candidate will bring deep technical and software expertise, and strong business judgment, leadership and mentoring to help us define and execute complex roadmaps. In this role, you will need to manage cross-functional communication, identify & mitigate risks to efficient delivery, decompose ambiguous problems into workable plans, and to lead execution across multiple teams and partners.

Key job responsibilities

As a Sr Manager, PMT on this team, you will:

  • Lead the vision, strategy, and execution of a new product that addresses a variety of challenges within the Private Brands business, and significantly impacts Amazon’s business.

  • Collaborate with groups of experts and cross-functional colleagues in an agile environment.

  • Learn and grow by being exposed to multiple organizational challenges in a short time frame.

  • Work with business leaders, scientists, and economists to translate business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables, including the design, development, testing, and deployment of highly scalable distributed services.

  • Partner with scientists, economists, and engineers to help deliver scalable ML and econometric models while building tools to help our customers gain and apply insights.

  • You will be responsible for disrupting traditional business process in order to create the agility necessary to develop and incubate new solutions to challenging business problems.

  • You will draw from a deep and broad technical expertise to own large and complex multi-business deliverables.

  • You will directly manage Technical Product Managers, Scientists and Engineers to deliver on your goals.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of team management experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience managing technical individuals such as engineers and scientists

  • Experience in working with and/or building science based solutions

  • Experience in dealing with highly complex engineers systems across multiple organizations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering consumer software products and services in a high growth environment

  • Science or Engineering based background

  • Deep understanding of Machine Learning

  • Deep understanding of highly scalable engineering systems

  • Ability to succeed in a highly ambiguous environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $158,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $307,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
