Business Innovation & Technology has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Application Administrator .

The Senior Application Administrator plays an integral role in supporting those efforts through the development, maintenance and support of the information technology applications that make those workflows and processes possible. This position will work on a team of developers that support a wide array of custom and off the shelf applications. As part of that team the Senior Application Administrator will support most of these applications through custom development, documentation, stakeholder engagement, and user training.

The Senior Application Administrator will work across a diverse spectrum of UW Facilities business, operational units, and campus-wide business partners to recommend and implement solutions for UWF services and systems.

The systems supported by the Senior Application Administrator allow the University to manage capital projects, track space and research allocations, monitor and process financial transactions, comply with applicable regulations, and increase maintenance staff efficiency. The Senior Application Administrator will provide invaluable support and guidance to partners in UW Facilities and the customers that rely on UW Facilities services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general direction and oversight of the Director of Information Technology for UW Facilities:

Software Configuration & Application Support (50% of Time)

• Independently design, develop, configure, and implement features, customizations, and product functionality. • Independently conduct requirements gathering with customers and stakeholders to support development needs. • Align with and contribute to the development of DevOps standards supporting a “cloud- first” deployment strategy. • Follow Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices to deliver long-term sustainability goals for the department. • Provide support for campus-wide solutions and serve as an advocate and subject matter expert for which this position is designated as the senior application administrator. • Develop procedures, training and program implementation documentation for users and online support resources. • Make decisions on the essential learning needs of the products supported by this position and conduct training activities for IT staff and end users. • Independently conduct project and life-cycle deployment testing and produce documentation including testing scripts. • Act as the senior technical leader for all assigned enterprise systems including (but not limited to): Capital Construction Project Management, Real-Estate Property Management, Business Diversity Management, and all related data, monitoring and recovery solutions.

Business Support and Related Duties (35% of Time)

• As the senior technology administrator, lead Long-Term Planning and Technology Road Map Development on Assigned Applications (e.g., PM Web) • Develop Road Maps for Assigned Applications (e.g., PM Web) • Attend training as necessary and assess new system features for use by various UW Facilities departments and business partners. Independently design, plan and execute enhancements as needed. • Develop and maintain important working relationships with current or potential UWF business partners, clients, and users on campus (Schools, Colleges, Departments, and other Business Units). • Maintain familiarity with key enterprise application needs, and review implementations from peer public institutions or related private sector partners. Using this information recommend improvements to the quality of supported systems. • Work closely with various IT organizations within the UW (e.g., UW Information Technology, Medical Centers, and other academic partners) to align solution needs. • Independently conduct data analysis and reporting in alignment with the activities of the BIT Business Intelligence unit. • Status reporting on work and progress for internal BIT and UWF leadership.

Other Duties and Professional Development (15% of Time)

• Attend mandatory in person and virtual staff meetings, including, but not necessarily limited to, BIT staff meetings, retreats and UWF All Hands events. • Attending PMWeb sponsored training and/or conference to develop skills and network with other PMWeb users. • Recommend and Make Technology Decisions around purchasing of new licenses, vendor support contracting and minor hardware / software purchases. • Other Duties as assigned. • May supervise the work of additional administrators, student technicians or application support staff.

Requirements include:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience. • 5 years of experience administering enterprise solutions in complex technology environments and/or on technology teams supporting facilities and capital development needs. • Demonstrated proficiency or certification(s) in SQL or similar database environment working with complex queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and report writing/creation/modification. • Experience with SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) or similar development planning practices. • Demonstrated strong written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, and status reporting. • Positive interpersonal skills including collaboration, taking different perspectives, and listening. • Related technical customer service experience. • Experience working with clients to understand and translate their requirements.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Desired:

• Experience developing solutions for construction project management or property management stakeholders such as PMWeb. • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and customers including communicating technical issues for non-technical audiences. • Experience with data warehouse technical architectures, ETL/ ELT, reporting/analytic tools, scripting, and web development. • Service and Process certifications including ITIL (v3 or 4). • Experience or certification with coding languages. • Industry credentials such as (but not limited to): MS Certified Azure Data Fundamentals, MS Certified Application Developer (MCAD), Certified Scrum Developer, Project Management Professional (PMP) • Experience working in a diverse culture supporting higher education. • Experience with multitasking, dealing with ambiguity, and time management.
