Position Description

The laboratory of Ariful Haque, Ph.D. in the Ingram School of Engineering at Texas State University has an immediate opening for a talented and passionate Postdoctoral Scholar. The Institute’s commitment to excellence in research drives our commitment to seek out and train the best of the next generation of materials scientists/engineers.

We are interested in recruiting a candidate with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor physics, Materials Science or a closely related field to conduct research in the broad area of wide/ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor fabrication, characterization, and modeling/simulation for high-power applications. The Postdoctoral Scholar will work on independent and collaborative projects in the mentioned fields. The qualified applicant will be required to conduct research, interpret results, prepare manuscripts, and aid in the preparation of grant applications. Training and experience in semiconductor-based material fabrication by physical and/or chemical vapor deposition, characterization, processing, and/or modeling is preferred. The applicant should have a good command of the English language, good interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, critical thinking ability and evidence of experience, and good writing skills through publications in peer-reviewed journals as a first/corresponding author. The applicant should also be proficient in computer software usage including Word, Excel, Origin, PowerPoint, MATLAB , and statistical packages.

The position is subject to the availability of funds.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor physics, Materials Science or a closely related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with teams

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience in leading the preparation of scientific publications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in semiconductor-based material fabrication by physical and/or chemical vapor deposition, characterization, processing, and/or modeling.

  • Experience in preparing scientific project proposals in the relevant field.
