Actalent Software Engineer in San Antonio, Texas

Job Description:

My client is looking for a Software Engineer to join their Aerospace team! The Software Engineer/Architect is responsible for the software design, software development, and software integration of high-reliability and harsh environment electronics hardware for aircraft electrical systems; secondary emphasis in the fields of Motors, Electronic Controllers, and Electro-Mechanical Actuation. The individual must be able create plans, develop requirements, create development code and plan, create test procedures and scripts.

Top Skills:

  • Aerospace & Defense experience – Flight

  • 5+ years of experience with DO-178

  • Full Cycle Development (systems software/architect with coding experience – coding preferred)

  • 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, & Software Engineering from an accredited university.

• Architect, specify requirements, design, implement and test C and C++embedded software development process to ensure high quality and timely software deliverables

• Apply object oriented design techniques to enable code re-use and integration with testing framework.

• Develop and maintain knowledge of best practice development processes, language standards and tools, e.g. run-time analysis tools, C++ standards and secure software development

• Estimate time and effort required for software activities and deliver to these time and effort estimates to ensure cost and schedule.

• Proposed improvements in tools, processes and techniques that support quality and innovation and make software development more efficient and effective.

• Work in a cross-functional, agile team that includes Systems Engineering, Mechanical Systems, Electrical Systems, Test Systems, Software, and Project Engineering.

• Working knowledge and experience in software/firmware airworthiness certification process for military and commercial segments.

• Working knowledge of standard work, metrics and continuous improvement. (i.e., 5S, Lean Six Sigma, etc)

• Working knowledge of military/aerospace design standards/specifications

• Working knowledge of root cause and corrective action tools and processes
