Job Title:  Systems Administration and Helpdesk Support

Location: Rockville, MD 

Overview: The Systems Administration and Helpdesk Support professional is responsible for providing effective support and maintenance across the organization's IT infrastructure, including both on-premise and AWS cloud environments. This role ensures prompt and efficient resolution of user issues and ongoing system maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily onsite support tasks for secure LAN users, virtual desktops, and laptops, including troubleshooting, account management, application support, and general maintenance.

  • Task Area 2 – Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering Support: Assist in supporting infrastructure that facilitates both on-premise data center and cloud-based operations.

  • Subtask 4.2.8 – Network Security and Patch Management: Support routine patching of servers and systems, maintaining up-to-date security patches and compliance with security standards. Manage Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware across all hosts.

  • Subtask 4.2.7 – Helpdesk Support: Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to the Helpdesk, helping to resolve complex technical issues and contribute to high levels of user satisfaction.

  • Participate in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity/Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) as well as Backup and Recovery tasks.

    Qualifications:

  • Must possess an associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in systems administration and helpdesk support, ideally in a hybrid IT environment.

  • Junior cybersecurity certification (Security+ or similar) required.

  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, and any cloud certifications, such as AWS Cloud Practitioner, is preferred.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Tier 2 Public Trust clearance.

    Tools and Technologies:

  • Experienced in managing Windows Operating Systems and applications, capable of troubleshooting and providing effective support.

  • Knowledgeable in using network management and monitoring tools and supporting virtualized environments like VMWare.

    Work Hours:

  • Work hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays, with occasional extended hours as needed for support escalations.
