Job Title:  Network Systems Engineer

Location: Rockville, MD 

Overview: The Network Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the administration and operational management of network and system infrastructure within both on-premise and AWS cloud environments. This role ensures efficient and secure IT operations that support the organization's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the management of various hardware platforms, software solutions, and virtualized environments, including Windows Operating Systems, Linux (Redhat and Ubuntu), and VMWare.

  • Task Area 2 – Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering Support: Assist in maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure that supports both the on-premise data center and cloud-based operations.

  • Subtask 4.2.8 – Network Security and Patch Management: Assist in managing the routine patching of servers and systems to maintain up-to-date security patches and standards. Also, support the maintenance of Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware across all hosts and manage whitelist/blacklist solutions for application protection.

  • Collaborate with senior network systems engineers and IT security teams to ensure infrastructure security measures are aligned with organizational security policies.

  • Contribute to improvement projects, maintenance documentation, and operational security activities.

  • Subtask 4.2.7 – Helpdesk Support: Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to the Helpdesk as needed, ensuring rapid and effective resolution of more complex technical issues that escalate beyond Tier 1 support.

    Qualifications:

  • Must possess an undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in network systems engineering, with experience in both on-premise and cloud environments.

  • Junior cybersecurity certification (Security+ or similar) required.

  • AWS Cloud Practitioner or similar cloud certification preferred.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Tier 2 Public Trust clearance.

    Tools and Technologies:

  • Experienced in managing Windows, Linux, VMWare, and potentially Nutanix environments.

  • Familiar with network management and monitoring tools.

    Work Hours:

  • Standard work hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
