Schluter Systems Lp/UMS Manufacturing Manufacturing Process Engineer in Plattsburgh, New York

As a Manufacturing/Process Engineer (with a focus on Product Development projects) you will be responsible for the design and implementation of production concepts in support of both new and newly revised products. Schluters Product Engineering Process (PEP) is used as the framework for these initiatives, and your expertise in (manufacturing) processes supported by your technical knowledge, innovation, and experience is critical to the successful launch of our products. On a daily basis you will be collaborating with fellow PEP team members, SMEs, and stakeholders throughout our organization to achieve project goals in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Primary Responsibilities (but not limited to)

Product Design for Manufacturability

Lead the development and implementation of new/altered manufacturing processes to produce new products, product improvements or process improvements for existing products. Collaborate with product design teams to ensure manufacturability and scalability of new products, from design to production to ensure successful project execution and optimization and integration of the production process while minimizing manufacturing costs without sacrificing product quality. Process Validation

Design and execute validation protocols for new processes or process changes to ensure that they meet quality and regulatory requirements. Perform statistical analysis and data interpretation to validate process performance. Quality Assurance and Compliance

Establish and maintain robust quality control procedures to ensure that products meet or exceed customer requirements and industry standards. Implementation of quality checks, conduct root cause analysis of quality issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Provide leadership in resolving quality issues and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Documentation and Standards

Oversee the creation and maintenance of manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flowcharts. Ensure that documentation is up to date, controlled, compliant with regulatory standards, and accessible to necessary personnel. Equipment, Technology Selection and Maintenance

Evaluate, select, and implement new manufacturing technologies, equipment, and automation solutions to enhance productivity and competitiveness. Manage capital projects related to equipment upgrades or installations. Lead efforts to evaluate, select, and optimize manufacturing equipment, machinery, and tools to improve process performance. Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure optimal equipment operation. Data Analysis and Reporting

Oversee the collection and analysis of manufacturing data to identify trends, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and make data-driven decisions. Prepare and present reports to senior management on manufacturing metrics, project status, and continuous improvement initiatives. Continuous Improvement

Develop and implement Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other best practices to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the manufacturing team and across the organization. Training and Support

Provide technical leadership and expertise in manufacturing engineering disciplines such as process optimization, automation, robotics, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing. Mentor and coach engineers to develop their technical skills and capabilities. Share knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned to support professional growth and development within the team.
