The Enterprise Data Architect is responsible for designing, creating, and managing Jazz's enterprise data architecture and data architecture standards. This role is critical in establishing a solid foundation for enterprise data at Jazz and ensuring that data is organized securely and consistently to enable interconnectivity across functional data assets. The Enterprise Data Architect will be responsible for setting standards around data modeling, data integration and data engineering best practices and data security design. This is a highly collaborative role where the architect will provide standards and guidance to functional data architects and partner with the enterprise architecture function to deliver the optimal data solutions for Jazz. As the Enterprise Data Architect you will be a key member of the team driving data driven thinking at Jazz and unlocking the value of enterprise data.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

Creates high level data architecture strategy, creating guidelines for data architecture including acquisition, staging, storage, archival / retention, redundancy and master data

Simplifies the existing data architecture, delivering reusable services and cost-saving opportunities in line with the policies and standards of the company

Collaborates with Enterprise Data Strategy team peers including Governance Lead, Lead Data Scientist and Enterprise Data Platforms as well as Information Services Peers including but not limited to IS Strategic Partners, Information Security and the Enterprise Architect

Designs the structure and security for data systems, including databases, warehouses, and lakes

Defines data schemas, optimizing data storage, and establishing data access controls and security measures

Translates high-level business requirements into data models and appropriate metadata, test data, and data quality standards

Leads and participates in the peer review and quality assurance of project architectural artifacts across the data architecture functions

Defines and manages standards, guidelines, and processes to ensure the highest levels of data quality and data security

Evaluates and recommends emerging technologies for data management, storage, and analytics

Designs master data elements with a focus on interoperability across data assets to deliver transformative insights

Supports development and maintenance activities to ensure they are in line with the enterprise architecture - data models and roadmap defined there.

Collaborates with the Enterprise Data Management team to maintain repositories for representing the data elements including the entities, relationships and attributes, the information flows, and business glossary

Encourages a data citizenship mindset, ensuring we all collectively take responsibility and accountability for the data we create, consume, manage and share

Summarizes and communicates the concepts of enterprise data and data architecture to stakeholders with various levels of comprehension

Requi ed Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

7+ of relevant experience in design and implementation of data models for enterprise data warehouse / data lake initiatives

Experience leading projects involving data warehousing, data modeling, and data security

Experience working in highly collaborative cross-functional teams and delivering solutions through both waterfall and agile project delivery

Prior experience in highly regulated industry environment required, experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech industry preferred

Proficient in one or more programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL

Proficiency in the design and implementation of modern data architectures and concepts such as cloud services (AWS) and modern data warehouse tools (Snowflake, Databricks)

Experience with data engineering tools such as Informatica PowerCenter / IICS and data modeling tools

Understanding of entity-relationship modeling, metadata systems, and data quality tools and techniques

Able to think strategically and relate architectural decisions and recommendations to business needs

Able to assess traditional and modern data architecture components and overall solution design based on business needs

Experience with business intelligence tools and technologies such as Power BI, and Tableau

Strong collaborator in complex, cross-functional teams involving data scientists, business analysts, and stakeholders

Committed to forming trusting, collaborative and strategic partnerships with internal stakeholders and develop pragmatic, innovative approaches to meet complex data needs and maximize business value

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

BS in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field

FOR US-BASED CANDIDATES ONLY Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the full and complete base pay range is $148,000-$222,000.  Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, within the established pay framework and our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influence individual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on a regular basis. At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
