AVT Simulation Simulator Solutions Architect -Security Clearance Eligibility Required in ORLANDO, Florida

The company’s Simulator Solutions Architect (SSA) designs, or oversees the design of, technical solutions by prescribing COTS, AVT reused, or custom components, both hardware and software.  This includes providing technical oversight, leadership and guidance to Systems Engineers, Hardware Engineers, and Software Engineers throughout the proposal, design, development, test, and support life cycle.

The SSA is a one-of-a-kind position at AVT primarily responsible for developing cost effective solutions focused on reuse and COTS where possible. These solutions should be as common as possible across programs and product lines. The SSA must have a deep understanding of enterprise-level systems and architectures, technology stacks and frameworks, and industry standards and protocols.  Collaboration with business stakeholders, project managers, and technical teams is required to define system requirements, constraints, goals, and solutions. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are essential. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile environment and be able to balance multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a positive team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Analyzes requirements and applies standard engineering methodologies to design technical solutions by first looking for cost effective reuse, existing technologies and frameworks, then prescribing custom-developed components to develop a wholistic and supportable solution.

  • Produces specifications, design documents, and architecture diagrams that define a system's components, interfaces, and behaviors.

  • Leads technical discussions, presents proposals, and provides recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.

  • Provides guidance and technical leadership to development teams during the implementation phase, ensuring adherence to architectural guidelines and best practices.

  • Manages and mentors junior architects and technical staff, providing guidance and support as needed.

  • Collaborates with cybersecurity personnel to ensure that systems and applications meet established security and compliance standards.

  • Reviews existing systems and applications to identify opportunities for improvement and modernization.

  • Researches and evaluates emerging technologies and trends to identify their potential impact on existing and future solution designs.

  • Provides input to the Project Manager regarding technical decisions and risks.

  • Works in a fast-paced development environment with the ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands simultaneously.

  • Works as a member of a project team able to step in and help programs in need of software programming assistance, hardware selection, or hardware/software integration.

    Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirements Completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a Bachelor’s or higher degree in engineering or a related field such as Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or Information Technology. Substitutions: Related professional experience cannot be substituted for the educational requirements.

  • Experience with development and delivery of application hardware/software.

  • Experience with programming languages (such as C, C++, C#) and hardware/software engineering design patterns.

  • Experience with building to requirements and/or synthesizing requirements.

  • Experience with hardware/software interfaces

  • Experience developing Government CDRLs related to technical solutions

  • Configuration management tools experience required.

  • 10+ years of experience, 15+ years preferred.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 10 pounds.
