Title and Summary

Software Engineer

Provides support of applications software through programming, analysis, design, development and delivery of software solutions. Research alternative technical solutions for changing business needs.  

To develop and configure the Card Transaction Services applications, which support the ATM Switch, Faster Payments Central Infrastructure and ATM Managed Services.

• Work as a Software Development Engineer as part of a multi-disciplinary agile scrum team with the aptitude to cross skill in coding languages and testing and implementation.

• Responsible for the analysis, design, development and delivery of software solutions

• Defines requirements for new applications and customizations, adhering to standards, processes and best practices

Role

•Responsible for programming, testing, implementation, documentation, maintenance and support of systems application software in adherence with MasterCard standards, processes and best practices. 

•Develop high quality, secure, scalable software solutions based on technical requirements specifications and design artifacts within expected time and budget.

•Research, create and evaluate technical solution alternatives for the business needs current and upcoming technologies and frameworks. 

•Perform feasibility studies, logic designs, detailed systems flowcharting, analysis of input-output flow, cost and time analysis. 

•Work with project team to meet scheduled due dates, while identifying emerging issues and recommending solutions for problems and independently perform assigned tasks, perform production incident management. 

•Document software programs per Software Development Best Practices. Follow MasterCard Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes. 

•Assist Senior Team members in modification of the documentation templates per the needs of the project and technology. 

•Understanding the big picture and end-to-end logical architecture of systems in ownership areas.

•Contribute ideas to help ensure that required standards and processes are in place and actively look for opportunities to enhance standards and improve process efficiency. 

•Support collection and reporting of project and software metrics. 

Responsibilities:

• Own software delivery tasks (code development, test, deployment) at an application/software component level

• Participate in team prioritization discussions with Product/Business stakeholders

• Able to troubleshoot and refactor existing code

• Adopt new languages and architecture patterns needed for the work

• Influence the decisions made by the team

• Assist peers and less experienced members

• Demonstrate active learning and sharing of software practices via Guild/Engineering community initiatives and demos.

• Assist in technical documentation of APIs and services being delivered

All About You

Education: 

•Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Management Information Systems or equivalent work experience.  

Skills/ Abilities:

•Thorough knowledge and understanding of Software Engineering Concepts and Methodologies is required.

•1 to 3 years of experience in software engineering field.

• Has ability to write secure code in one or more languages (e.g., C, C+, C#, Java, JavaScript, COBOL, SQL, TACL, TAL)

• Familiar with secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT)

• Basic understanding of the financial payments industry

• Understands and builds test code automation at unit level, service level, and integration level to ensure code and functional coverage

• Understands requirement analysis being essential part of delivering value to our customers and partners and participate in elaboration, prioritization, and effort estimation

• Understands the engineering principles used in building and running mission critical software capabilities (security, customer experience, testing, operability, simplification, service-oriented architecture)

• Understands Continuous Integration (CI) and Delivery (CD) concepts, and capabilities to support automation, pipelines, virtualization, and containerization.

• Understands functional and non-functional testing types to elaborate and estimate test efforts.

•Must be high-energy, detail-oriented and proactive with the ability to function under pressure in an independent environment.

•Must provide the necessary skills to have a high degree of initiative and self-motivation with a willingness and ability to learn and take on challenging opportunities.

•Strong communication skills -- both verbal and written – with strong relationship, collaborative skills and organizational skills.

•Ability to work as a member of matrix based diverse and geographically distributed project team.
