Description
The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be based out of the Las Vegas branch. This role is primarily responsible for driving the implementation of continuous improvement fundamental competencies and transformational competencies to continually improve performance in quality, cost, delivery, morale, and safety. The incumbent will work with other Jensen Precast sites to ensure alignment with initiatives, promote best practices and ensure inter-plant consistency of systems and procedures.
Principle Accountabilities
Assist with the development and implementation of a strategy for a self-sustaining continuous improvement program including metrics that support continuous improvement manufacturing philosophy
Works as part of a cross-functional group aimed at the development and implementation of Continuous improvement principles
Facilitate continuous improvement activities through Mini Kaizens, DMAIC projects through daily interaction with site leaders and employees
Facilitate leadership and others “going to Gemba” to truly understand and implement improvements
Applies problem solving techniques to resolve both customer and internal quality issues for manufactured products
Motivates, encourages, and coaches employees in the consistent use of continuous improvement principles
Provides estimates on production times, staffing requirements, and associated costs to provide information or management decisions
Develops complete project plans including resources, costs, benefits, and schedules. Assumes full responsibility for all aspects of projects to ensure goals are met on time and within budget
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated history of success in continuous improvement manufacturing principles, preferably in an industrial environment. experience in precast or other continuous flow or batch manufacturing highly desired. Other desired qualifications include:
BS degree in engineering (Industrial / Mechanical / Mechanical preferred)
At least 2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment working with continuous improvement concepts and tools
Knowledge of manufacturing methods, systems, and production processes required
Focused improvement (Kaizen) Events facilitation and training experience preferred
Familiar with and experience in Lean fundamentals – Lean Basics, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), 5S, Standard Work, Problem Solving, etc.
Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy as well as a member of a team
Strong capabilities in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Excellent analytical skills
Strong familiarity with the development of systems and processes
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, listening)
Results driven
