New York Times Senior Systems Engineer - Coupa in Norfolk, Virginia

About the Role

The Senior Business Systems Engineer will be the lead application administrator for the NYTimes Coupa cloud-based business spend management platform. You will oversee the day-to-day administration and maintenance of the Coupa, and you will participate in projects, system implementations and improvement initiatives.

You will partner with the Sourcing and Procurement Operations teams to lead collaborative discussions on technical design, ensuring the quality and timeliness of project and product deliverables. You will report to the Manager of Enterprise Applications Support and work with a team of engineers who also manage Workday integrations and provide support for the Times’ ERP systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Administration of the Coupa S2P system, including user administration, release management, and system testing and troubleshooting

  • Configuration with building and maintaining user roles, workflows, process and SIM forms, and reports, maintaining master data, and other similar tasks

  • Implement new features and updates to keep the Coupa platform up-to-date and secure

  • Work with other internal IT staff and external service providers to ensure integration with other systems

  • Troubleshoot system and integration errors, and building processes using the Process Automator functionality

  • Collaborate with stakeholders of business teams to assess business requirements and propose system solutions

  • Provide audit support through generating reports, developing documentation, and performing completeness and accuracy checks

  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and suggest projects to streamline business operations where applicable

  • Create systems documents, inclusive of architectural design, business requirements, functional design, user manuals, test scripts and training materials

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience as a systems engineer working with Enterprise business applications

  • 3+ years administrative experience with Coupa or equivalent

  • Demonstrated understanding of best practices in procurement

  • Understanding of system controls, appropriate levels of security, and the need for accuracy in financial and human resources information and statements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coupa administration certification

  • Workday experience

  • Experience with Agile methodology

The annual base pay range for this role is between $130,000.00 and $140,000.00.
