Responsibilities

Based out of our Nisku facility, the role of the Electronics Technologist is to provide mechanical maintenance and repair for our drilling tools and tubulars. Will follow work instructions, checklists, and QA/QC lists presented in English. Will support the tubular inspector with proper technical data and back up on these activities. Will also include daily reporting to the Drilling Tool lead technician.

  • Maintain daily contact with Drilling Tool Lab Coordinator and Lead tech to get daily activities and plan of action

  • Report all testing data to the lead technician

  • Drilling Tool Product lines –technical level support in assembling and troubleshooting procedures

  • Where warranted, generate and follow up Nonconformance Reports for technical investigation

  • Follow procedures on any engineering change notices (ECN) to incorporate improvement

  • Maintain daily link with inventory, global assets, administratively assistant about production orders, and their status

  • Contact Drilling Tool Labs Coordinator, Lead Tech., or R&M Manager about assembly drawings and BOM.

  • Maintain spread sheet data and properly monitor assembling activities.

  • Full cross training on tubular inspection.

  • Daily usage of PPE as required.

  • Respond to calls of service on a 24-hour on-call rotational shift, as requested.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Electronics Technologist position should have a combination of technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and safety awareness. They should also be a team player with good communication abilities.

  • Mechanical Knowledge: Candidates should have a good understanding of mechanical concepts.

  • Reading Mechanical Layouts and Parts Drawings: The ability to interpret technical drawings and layouts related to mechanical components is essential.

  • Logical Mindset and Organizational Skills: A logical approach to problem-solving and strong organizational abilities are important.

  • Valid Driver’s License: Must have a Valid Canadian DL and reliable transportation for the daily commute to the shop and also when responding to calls of service during on-call shifts.

  • Communication and Team Support Skills: Effective communication in English and the ability to work well in a team are necessary.

  • Troubleshooting Skills: Candidates should be adept at identifying and resolving mechanical issues.

  • Safety Compliance: Adherence to safety requirements and rules is crucial.

  • Physical Requirements: The role may involve lifting up to 50 lbs and working in a shop environment with heavy equipment.
