Position Summary:

The Video Production Technician provides technical and operational support for video productions. This includes providing user support for NJIT’s One Button Studios, participating in ongoing equipment maintenance, and assisting in maintaining related documentation. Additionally, the position provides oversight for a team of student Studio Technicians when no full-time MTSS staff members are available.

This position is capped at 29 hours per week and requires a flexible schedule. This will include regular night and weekend shifts determined on a weekly basis.

Essential Functions:

-Video Production Support:Provides technical and operational support for video productions such as those held in NJIT’s broadcast studio, One Button Studios, and other locations across campus. This includes troubleshooting and resolving issues during a live production as well as post-production.

-Maintenance:Perform routine maintenance and testing of video production equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

-Documentation:Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, video production requests, and end-user and technical documentation.

-Student Supervision:Provide oversight and guidance for a team of student Studio Technicians supporting video productions.

Prerequisite Qualifications:

  • 2 years experience in a higher education environment

  • Experience supporting audio, video, camera, projection, control systems, and other related AV systems and equipment.

  • Experience with Adobe editing suite and Davinci Resolve

  • Familiarity with industry-standard video protocols (HDMI, SDI, etc.) and signal distribution systems (e.g. Tricaster, Roland, Atem).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with users of varying technical knowledge.

  • At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
