Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, seeks a dynamic team leader to serve as the inaugural Career Counseling Officer for the Graduate Student Career Pathways Program within the Office of Career Exploration and Success. The new Graduate Student Career Pathways Program will provide opportunities for graduate students to make connections with career readiness competencies and further connect them with Career Exploration and Success resources to clarify their career goals, explore industry pathways, develop various career competencies, and connect with industry professionals and alumni. They will organize workshops, panels, and guest speakers, build connections with Rutgers graduate programs, create networking events, and prepare to establish mentoring programs. This position reports to the Associate Director of Career Pathways.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Oversees career preparation initiatives tailored for all graduate students, connecting them with career competencies and industries.
  • Enlists campus partners as Career Pathway Fellows to aid in program execution and organizes significant career events for graduate students while facilitating future student/alumni mentoring programs.
  • Establishes and nurtures connections with career professionals within Career Exploration and Success and across campus.
  • Leads Doctoral Student Career Community Advisory Board to oversee career preparation programs, recruitment events, and mentoring activities, involving faculty/staff, industry professionals, and student leaders.
  • Cultivates relationships with campus entities serving graduate students and serve as the main point of contact for career presentation requests from graduate student-affiliated organizations and campus partners.
  • Provides direct career advising service primarily for doctoral students, assisting in their career journey and identifying methods to expand advising capacity for the doctoral student population.
  • Participates in meetings, professional development activities, and other assigned responsibilities.
  • Works to increase the Rutgers University brand within the career services field through conference presentations, award nominations, and professional online community involvement.
  • Serves as an important voice on the broader CES Management Team.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function.
Certifications/Licenses
