Controls Technician - Full-Time - New Albany Ohio

Position Summary:

Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates control devices which automate industrial manufacturing processes. Continuously evaluates all process control systems for reliability and proactively seeks methods to optimize the manufacturing processes. Works closely with the maintenance team, operations, engineering, Technical Operations, R&D, and Information Technology departments.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Designs, installs, programs, and troubleshoots electrical and electronic control systems and components including PLC's, VFD's, HMI's and process control loops.

  • Act as a first line of defense to troubleshoot faulty control systems and implement systemic solutions to avoid future failures.

  • Trains other maintenance and engineering personnel in process control applications, use, and troubleshooting.

``` - Recommends measures to improve production methods and equipment performance.

``` - Continually improves process control systems through advanced process control, alarm management, and operator interface optimization.

  • Records and conveys information regarding the installation and modifications of controls and electrical systems.

  • Works closely with outside vendors and technical representatives on control, electrical and electronic system problems, and designs.

  • Manages assigned projects, ensuring efficient operations in project areas in accordance with Pharmavite Safety and Project Management Office requirements, SOP's, and GMP's. 

  • Ensures functional operation and preventative maintenance of equipment to reduce/eliminate accidental injury.   

  • Familiarity with all basic hand tools, multi-meter, and PLC Hardware (I/O modules, communication modules, CPUs, and safety relays).

  • Skilled working with electrical systems including 480VAC & 24VDC power.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Minimum of an associate degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering or Technology or related military service training programs.

Certification:

None.

Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years maintenance experience in industrial control system development, installation, and troubleshooting.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Requires:

  • PLC and PC-Based HMI Programming, troubleshooting and implementation experience, preferably Allen-Bradley and Siemens.

  • Strong background in systems design and automation, including a solid understanding of electrical, mechanical, and controls engineering fundamentals.

  • Specific knowledge of GMP, GAMP guidelines, IEEE specifications, ISA specifications, ASTM (American Society for Testing & Materials) specifications and batch process control in the life science industry.

  • A firm foundation in automation, controls, electronics, pharmaceutics and/or food & beverage manufacturing.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Effective organizational skills.

  • Ability to make presentations and recommendations in the area of responsibility.

  • Skilled in layout and installation of electrical and communication lines.

Physical Requirements:

Works in both the manufacturing and office environments which require the ability to sit for long periods of time and to move freely through the production and warehousing areas.
