Eaton Corporation Software Developer in Moon Township, Pennsylvania

Eaton’s EPG CPD Circuit Protection Division division is currently seeking a Software Developer.

This role is based in Moon Township, PA. No relocation assistance is offered for this position.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $65250.0 - $95700.0 a year.

What you’ll do:

The Software Developer will be part of an agile scrum team, responsible for development, testing, and deployment of Internet of Things, Web and Mobile solutions for Protection, Controls & Solutions (PCS) division. The developer will create industry leading user software experience for the users of electrical infrastructure and cloud-connected systems. Responsibilities will center on software development, but will also require planning and communications with project team members from project inception through the full development cycle to release for sale. Software development within the group has web, cloud, mobile and desktop deployment environments.

Due to the global nature of our software development teams and processes, we offer a hybrid work environment, with the opportunity & expectation to work both from the office location and remote/home locations at times. Online times may vary depending on the day or the project.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop software for a variety of different target environments, including Web and Mobile applications or Desktop software and APIs per the requirements set forth for the intended application

  • Debug, and fix product defects related to software.

  • Test software applications both at a unit test and system test level to verify proper functionality.

  • Communicate and work with lab personnel to develop tests and perform testing to validate proper product functionality in conjunction with physical devices

  • Develop software interfaces which are likely to include MQTT, cellular (5G, LTE), and wireless backhaul

  • Collaborate within the software/firmware team to drive process improvements and firmware sharing and re-use. Including implementing strategies to ensure code portability and reusability.

  • Explore and evaluate new software solutions to achieve the above goals, including Electron JS and MAUI.

  • Coordinate with global software/firmware teams to accelerate the development cycle while reducing the cost to develop and maintain products.

  • Domestic and international effort on projects is required and will necessitate calls and meetings which may often start by 6:00am ET.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related/applicable technical field from an accredited institution

  • Two (2) years of experience programming in one or more of the following languages: C#, .NET, React Native, Electron JS, Python, C++, or others.

  • Must be legally authorized to work at the location (Pittsburgh, PA) in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Pittsburgh, PA to be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a full-stack developer in Agile/Scrum software projects, and/or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) processes used within a global organization with multiple teams providing hardware, firmware, platforms, and communication stacks

  • Knowledge of utilizing Atlassian tools (Jira, BitBucket, Confluence) and other developer systems (GitHub, APIgee, CoPilot AI).

  • Experience integrating software into Microsoft Azure cloud-based platforms and compiling, testing, and verifying cybersecurity using systems like Zephyr and Blackduck.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD concepts, tools, and technologies (such as Bamboo, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or CircleCI)

  • Experience creating revenue-generating software offerings for power electronics systems.

  • Experience in software interaction with the firmware operating hardware components such as drives, motors, soft starters, circuit breakers, medium voltage assemblies (MVAs), and low voltage assemblies (LVAs).

  • Ability to work effectively and communicate clearly in a global team environment and independently.

  • Willing and able to commit to work times for early morning communications between Pittsburgh and Pune, India.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and an innovative mind set.

  • Practical experience and understanding of development teams and agile methodologies.

  • Strategic planning ability and strong organizational skills.
