Job Description

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Architect and Design Edge Kubernetes-based Solutions:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and reliable edge Kubernetes-based solutions.

  • Design, implement, and optimize Kubernetes clusters at the edge to ensure high availability, performance, and security.

Technical Leadership:

  • Provide technical leadership in the design and implementation of edge-based solutions, staying abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies.

  • Act as a subject matter expert on Kubernetes services, advising internal teams and clients on best practices and optimizations.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with DevOps, development, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of edge-based Kubernetes services.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, present architectural proposals, and obtain feedback for continuous improvement.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce security measures for edge-based Kubernetes services, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.

Performance Optimization:

  • Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of edge-based Kubernetes clusters, addressing bottlenecks and improving resource utilization.

  • Implement automation tools and processes to streamline deployment and management tasks.

Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Provide technical support for escalated issues related to edge-based Kubernetes services, collaborating with support teams to ensure timely resolution.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for troubleshooting procedures and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or significant work-related experience.

  • Proficient in configuring Kubernetes clusters, managing cluster-level settings, and ensuring optimal performance.

  • Experience in designing failover mechanisms to ensure high availability and reliability of Kubernetes services.

  • Expertise in Container Storage Interface (CSI) for storage management and Container Networking Interface (CNI) for efficient network communication among containers.

  • Proficient in creating scaling strategies for Kubernetes services to handle varying workloads, ensuring optimal resource utilization.

  • Ability to design robust recovery mechanisms for Kubernetes clusters, including disaster recovery plans and backup strategies.

  • Proficient in configuring Kubernetes network policies, implementing firewalls, managing node-to-node communication, designing load-balancing solutions, and handling stateful services effectively.

  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and cloud technologies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strategic thinker with ability to drive change.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) are a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes security practices, including the use of Open Policy Agent (OPA) for policy enforcement and compliance.

  • Expertise in designing Kubernetes clusters with varying numbers of nodes (1, 2, and more), considering resource constraints and high availability requirements.
