Position Details

Reporting to the Associated Director of Fellowships, the Temporary Fellowships Assistant will assist with coordinating the campus application process for prestigious national fellowships, especially Fulbright and Watson. In addition, the Fellowships Intern will participate in advising prospective applicants (students and alumni). Due to the rhythm of the fellowship application cycle, this position will focus on: receiving training (June), advising (late June through August), campus interview and endorsement support along with initial advising for winter deadline competitions (September and October), and as well as records work and mock interview logistics.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinates logistics of the application process: communicates with faculty committees and fellowship applicants to schedule campus and mock interviews, sets up and facilitates Zoom meetings, reserves rooms, distributes materials to committees, ensures timely submission of participants’ application materials for national deadlines

  • Conducts initial intake advising of applicants, helps with developmental application advising for Fulbright and other competitions, as matches the individual’s experience/skill set

  • Under the direction of the Associate Director of Fellowships, leads virtual and/or in-person informational sessions and/or writing groups

  • Assists with outreach about fellowships events, opportunities, and deadlines, using email, social media, and Moodle

  • Maintains participant, event, and outreach records

  • Other duties as needed.

This is a temporary, non-benefits eligible, position working up to15 hours per week.

This position has the ability to work a hybrid/remote work schedule. Remote work is only considered for residents of MA, VT, NH, ME, CT, RI, or NY.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate level experience with research design, in any discipline

  • Excellent writing and editing skills

  • Experience giving one-on-one feedback on student writing

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact collegially with individuals of different backgrounds

  • Attention to detail, workflow, and deadlines.

  • Experience coordinating logistics.

  • Experience with independent research and reporting.

  • Experience working across cultural difference inside and/or outside the US

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Fulbright as an applicant, grantee, or peer advisor

  • Intercultural experience in or outside the U.S.

  • Experience using Moodle

  • Enrollment in a graduate program at a U.S. institution, in any discipline
