Required Skills:

Research Scientist Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize technical research background, train new ranking models, and run experiments.

  2. Create tools for migrating large bodies of user data across systems for new products, scalability efforts, and development of research infrastructure.

  3. Use machine learning, statistics, or other data techniques to build algorithms.

  4. Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

  5. Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  6. Designing and executing empirical research projects that identify the causal effects of on-platform interventions

  7. re-analyzing and synthesizing existing evidence from political science, economics, psychology, human-computer interaction, sociology, and other fields

  8. and evaluating existing internal tools for empirical validation.

  9. Provide exceptional, self-driven research with an ability to not only identify critical question, but also work across teams and backgrounds to execute research of special interest to company leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Requires a Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field. Requires completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, or thesis in the following:

    1. Algorithms, data structures, or systems software
    1. Solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches
    1. Gathering, manipulating, or analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
    1. Communicating complex research in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
    1. Research in topics closely related to machine learning, NLP, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, signal processing, data mining, artificial intelligence, information retrieval, or computer vision
    1. Devising better data-driven models of human behavior
    1. Developing highly scalable classifiers and tools leveraging machine learning, statistics, regression, rules-based models, or mathematical models
    1. R
    1. Counterfactual reasoning: causal inference and econometrics
    1. Familiarity with emerging methods for evaluating empirical claims, including awareness of measurement and valuation methods
    1. Designing survey instruments and weighting estimates to derive representative results.

Public Compensation:

$182,929/year to $196,900/year + bonus + equity + benefits
