We would like to talk to you! The Pennsylvania State Police is searching for a Digital Forensic Examiner to perform forensic analysis of computer-related evidence seized by law enforcement officers. Work involves advanced analysis of casework that includes examining various operating and file system environments and network communications found in diverse technology. DESCRIPTION OF WORK Duties of this position include receiving computer and electronic equipment such as computer towers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, routers, servers, printers, external hard drives, digital media players, GPSs, and thumb drives seized as part of criminal investigations. Under the direct supervision of a technical superior, you conduct examinations of digital equipment and media to include preserving original evidence and producing an image for analysis purposes. In addition, you connect to accessing systems and use various specialized forensic tools and techniques to identify and gather case-pertinent electronic data. You also recover deleted, encrypted, and damaged file information and provide expert testimony at court proceedings.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $64,959 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree in digital forensics, cyber forensics, forensic science, computer science or any information technology field that includes 3 college credits in computer networking and 3 college credits in information technology security, network security, or cyber security; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 3 college credits in computer networking and 3 college credits in information technology security, network security, or cybersecurity. Special Requirement: All employees must possess a valid drivers license that is not currently under suspension. Other Requirements: You must possess the ability to obtain and maintain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.
