U W-MADISON DIV. CONTINUING STUDIES Prison Education Initiative Site in MADISON, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a public, land-grant institution that exemplifies the \"Wisconsin Idea\" that the resources of the university should benefit all the citizens of the state. The Division of Continuing Studies provides and supports high-quality continuing education, outreach, service and scholarship related to personal enrichment and professional development. This position will coordinate delivery of higher education programming and associated supports to students incarcerated in Wisconsin state correctional facilities and will require work inside Racine Correctional Institution (in Racine, WI) and/or Columbia Correctional Institution (in Portage, WI) at least three days per week. Additional possible work sites for one day a week or less could be Felmers O. Chaney Correctional Center (in Milwaukee) and Oakhill Correctional Institution (in Madison). The employee may work one-two days a week virtually (working from home). Employee must work in an office at least one day every other week - office space will be provided at UW-Madison or loaned from Marquette University, depending on employee location. This new and exciting work is part of the University of Wisconsin-Madison\'s Prison Education Initiative (PEI). The PEI gives learners who are incarcerated the opportunity to reframe their futures through higher education. Housed in the UW-Madison Division of Continuing Studies, the PEI coordinates and supports the development and delivery of degree and certificate programs in Wisconsin state prisons and conducts research to examine the impact on learners. The PEI also supports college jumpstart courses in prison, in partnership with Odyssey Beyond Bars (OBB). OBB currently provides college jumpstart classes at Racine Correctional (RCI), Columbia Correctional (CCI), and Oakhill Correctional (OCI). The PEI currently provides an associate degree program at OCI, and we might expand this program to Felmers O. Chaney Correctional Center.
