Position Description:

Performs Academic Advising, educational, professional, or other advanced Academic Advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Responsibilities may include assisting in the analysis of special and/or complex problems. May supervise Academic Advisors or other employees. Performance is based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained. Work is performed under standard supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Provides advanced academic, educational, and career advising for all students, fostering lasting and beneficial relationships.

  • Participates in college and university efforts to recruit, retain, and graduate a diverse and successful student body, while evaluating and contributing to departmental efforts of same.

  • Maintains communication with student populations and partners via appropriate channels, initiating and sharing as needed.

  • Pursues and provides accurate information when issues arise, anticipates problems, identifies patterns, and analyses options for optimum potential outcomes.

  • Adopts ongoing quality improvements at the college and university levels, and contributes directly to departmental improvements.

  • Leads by example through strategic participation in professional development and activities, both on campus and off.
