Position Description:

Supervises and directs work involving direction of the activities of grounds keeping employees and particiapting in moderately heavy manual work. Supervises ten or more employees. Work is performed outdoors with exposure to hazardous equipment.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Examine grounds, systems, or facilities and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.

  • Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, or maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.

  • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.

  • Develop, implement, or evaluate maintenance policies and procedures.

  • Monitor employees' work level and review work performance.

  • Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.

  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures.

  • Knowledge and experience in all grounds maintenance activities and equipment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of high school or the equivalent, preferably including courses in Spanish. Three years experience in grounds maintenance, including experience in equipment operation and gardening techniques.
