Position Title:

Business Domain Architect

Job Summary:

As a Business Domain Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the architectural vision for one or multiple critical Business Domains (a.k.a., Lines of Business), ensuring alignment with overarching business and technology strategies. Your primary responsibilities will include leading the architecture and design of IT systems, applications, and infrastructure within the Business Domain. This involves spearheading efforts to support the Business Domain's growth and long-term success. Your focus will also be on designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and efficient application architectures that not only meet business objectives but also align with enterprise architecture standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Domain Strategy and Planning. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of assigned business domains, including processes, systems, and data flows. Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define and evolve the architecture strategy for the assigned domains.

  • Architectural Design. Design and document end-to-end domain architectures, considering business capabilities, processes, data, and technology components. Ensure architectural coherence across all solutions within the domain and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.

  • Requirements Analysis. Work closely with business stakeholders to understand and document functional and non-functional requirements for the assigned domains. Translate business requirements into architectural specifications, providing guidance to development teams.

  • Technical Leadership. Provide technical leadership and guidance during the development and implementation of solutions within the assigned domains. Collaborate with other architects, development teams, and project managers to ensure successful delivery of domain-related projects.

  • Solution Design : Lead the design and development of scalable and sustainable IT solutions, ensuring they adhere to industry best practices and standards.

  • Application Architecture Design. Design and document end-to-end application architectures, ensuring alignment with business requirements, scalability, and performance objectives. Collaborate with development teams to provide architectural guidance during the software development lifecycle.

  • Business Applications (Product) and Technology Roadmaps. Collaborate with senior leadership to create and maintain business applications (product) and technology roadmaps that aligns IT investments with business priorities and future growth.

  • Governance and Compliance. Enforce architectural governance processes to ensure compliance with established standards and best practices. Conduct regular reviews and assessments to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization within the assigned domains.

  • Risk Management. Identify and mitigate Business and IT risks, ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery plans are in place and regularly tested.

  • Vendor Management. Evaluate and select technology vendors and partners, negotiating contracts and ensuring vendor performance meets expectations.

  • Emerging Technologies. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending adoption where appropriate to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.

  • Collaboration. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT operations, development, and business units, to ensure seamless integration of IT solutions.

  • Stakeholder Engagement. Engage with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, to communicate Business Domain and IT strategies and initiatives effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication, thought leadership, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills for effective engagement with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • 15 years of experience in IT and Enterprise Architecture (EA), with a proven track record of successful architecture designs, implementations, and Business Domain architecture

  • 5 years of proven experience as an Applications Architect with in-depth knowledge of application architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices. Strong understanding of cloud computing platforms and microservices architecture. Hands-on experience with various programming languages, frameworks, and databases preferred.

  • 5 years of IT governance, risk management, and compliance experience. Strong multi-Cloud architecture and governance experience (Azure, AWS, and GCP), application design and system integration architecture experience.

  • Working knowledge of ITIL, COBIT, SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework), DevOps (DevSecOps), Lean Architecture, Application and Technology Portfolio Management (APM, TPM), Agile methodologies, and best practices.

  • Expertise in implementing and/or improving Software/System/Solution/Service Development Life Cycles (SDLC), Vendor and Procurement Management processes, Vendor Performance Management, ITSM (IT Service Management), BPM (Business Process Management), and others

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
