What You Will Do

This job location is at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS), located in Mercury, NV, approximately 60 miles north of Las Vegas, NV.

Innovative Customer Experience (ICE) division is seeking an energetic and customer-focused Computing Systems Professional 2, Windows System Administrator for the ICE Device Configuration Services (ICE-DCS) group. ICE-DCS consists of approximately 44 professionals, technicians, and students. ICE division is organized around the Service Desk, EasyIT and field support groups that are focused on supporting unclassified and classified programmatic and mission support needs, and central services groups that provide the enterprise level configuration management services for these computing environments.

Computing Systems Professional 2 (CSP-2) ($83,900 - $136,600)

The successful candidate will work at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) supporting institutional and programmatic customers across the site, providing advanced technical computer and infrastructure support services on unclassified and classified networks, including but not limited to:

  • Provide computer infrastructure operational support in a fast-paced and heterogeneous environment.

  • Monitor and support Corporate and Isolated Networks and Core Infrastructure Services, such as Active Directory, Storage Systems, Backups, VMWare Virtual Servers, DNS, DHCP, and Citrix

  • Collaborate with management, customers, and team members to mitigate security concerns within the environment and provide advanced technical support to the user community.

  • Evaluate cyber security impacts of operating systems/network protocols, applications, and hardware.

  • Provide expertise for the complex installations, perform security patching and hardware and/or software upgrades using independent judgment to resolve complex systems and network-related problems.

  • Independently resolve problems, requiring highly advanced knowledge of one or more platforms (e.g., Windows, VMWare, Active Directory, Citrix, COMSEC, etc.)

  • Automate tasks using programming and scripting.

  • Ensure data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.

  • Conduct or assist in routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

  • Analyze and work on complex issues where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

  • Interact with customers and peers in a professional and responsive manner, including mentoring, coaching, or giving presentations.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of Windows operating systems and/or Virtual environments and related hardware

  • Knowledge of hardware and operating systems including system architectures, network infrastructures, and client server principles

  • Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Computer Security and/or Networking Protocols

  • Knowledge of information security, as an Information Systems Security Officer, or an equivalent cyber role with demonstrated knowledge and experience in authoring and testing system security plans

  • Experience with vulnerability remediation including utilization of cyber-related tools for auditing, compliance verification, vulnerability testing, system patching and continuous monitoring

  • Extensive experience interacting with customers and peers in a professional and responsive manner

  • Demonstrated outstanding customer service, including working with customers to resolve issues

  • Exceptional work ethic and time management

Education/Experience:

Position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of four years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active DOE L or Q clearance, or equivalent, transferrable clearance

  • Active Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification

  • Knowledge of Web-based technologies including Web page development and maintenance and Web-based tools and utilities

  • Knowledge of/certified for DOE COMSEC program ad operations

  • Experience securing Operating Systems using NIST and STIG cyber security frameworks

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Mercury, NV. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 (https://www.directives.doe.gov/directives-documents/400-series/0472.2-BOrder-chg1-pgchg) for additional information.

HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
