Job Description

Data Scientist for BAW/SAW Filter Solutions

Skyworks Solutions seeks a skilled device R&D engineer who will play a key role in the development of Skyworks’ SAW/BAW and MEMs technologies. This engineer will develop Machine learning models and Finite Element Models for SAW/BAW resonators and will also analyze a variety of characterization and metrology data to provide feedback to the device fabrication team. He / she will work closely with both U.S. and Asia based engineering teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Process, cleanse, and validate data integrity for subsequent analysis, modeling, and experimentation.

• Analyze on-wafer device statistics of key device parameters and perform advanced data analytics.

• Develop and apply machine learning algorithms to technical challenges related to BAW/SAW devices.

• Accelerate finite element models with machine learning techniques in collaboration with other device modeling engineers.

• Provide technical guidance on machine learning solutions within cross-functional teams.

• Propose novel approaches to characterize, analyze, and model MEMs devices, pushing the limits of state-of-the-art BAW and SAW devices.

Key outcomes that are desired:

• Accelerate the SAW/BAW roadmap for next-generation devices, achieving reduced size, improved performance, and cost-effectiveness.

• Excel at multitasking across two or more projects simultaneously.

• Geared toward being a team player, contributing to a seamless interface between BAW development teams in the US and Asia.

Experience:

• PhD degree in Engineering, or Machine Learning is required.

• Experience in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting scientific data.

• Proficiency with Machine Learning framework, such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.

• Experience with deep learning models, such as CNNs, GNNs, Transformers, RNNs.

• Familiarity with generative models, such as VAEs, GANs and Diffusion model.

• Ability to build autonomous systems for dataset definition, model training, and evaluation.

• >5 years of industry or university experience is preferred.

• Experience in finite element simulations and knowledge in MEMS technology is preferred.

• Demonstrated strong communication and presentation skills.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge and experience in working with semiconductor and/or MEMs devices and test methodologies required by such devices. Knowledge of BAW/SAW resonator technology is desired. The candidate will have the ability to function effectively in a multi-cultural, multi-geographic environment and must also be able to collaborate well with other engineers to achieve divisional objectives. The candidate may be asked to travel to Asia to collaborate across different design and development engineering sites to proliferate modeling methodologies and/or techniques that he/she has developed.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $110,600 - $210,600 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
