Brief Job Overview

As Systems Engineer, you will provide support to senior system engineers in managing and maintaining server hardware, operating systems, backup solutions, enterprise storage, and various other tasks. With a solid foundation in server hardware, Windows and Linux operating systems, troubleshooting, and monitoring, you will contribute to the smooth functioning of the organization's IT infrastructure. You may also be assigned additional tasks as needed.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist and provide support in Configuring and installation/replacement of new/old server equipment’s.

  • Perform hardware upgrades, replacements, and repairs as necessary.

  • Collaborate with senior system engineers to ensure proper server capacity planning and resource allocation.

  • Understanding of Cloud Computing and Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Platform

  • Handle Windows Server and Linux operating systems, including installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance.

  • Perform routine system monitoring, basic troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

  • Assist in applying patches, updates, and security configurations to ensure system stability and security.

  • Possess basic knowledge of backup solutions like NetBackup, Veeam, or Commvault.

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining backup schedules, policies, and procedures.

  • Monitor backup jobs, report any issues, and ensure data integrity and recoverability.

  • Familiarity with enterprise storage systems such as Hitachi or NetApp.

  • Assist in managing and maintaining storage arrays, including provisioning, allocation, and monitoring of storage resources.

  • Collaborate with senior system engineers to ensure optimal storage performance and capacity planning.

  • Utilize intermediate-level experience to manage file and print servers.

  • Perform file system maintenance, access controls, and share configurations.

  • Troubleshoot file and print server issues and provide timely resolution.

  • Track assets and inventory within the data center environment.

  • Raising the trouble ticket with AMC vendor for troubleshooting the technical issues and to replace a faulty device/spare.

  • Co-ordinate with AMC vendor for the quarterly maintenance at all India sites.

  • Verifying and upgrading to the latest firmware updates with the help from the OEM’s

  • Assist in resolving user support tickets related to hardware, operating systems, and server applications.

  • Collaborate with the IT team to implement and maintain IT policies, procedures, and standards.Stay updated with industry trends and best practices related to system engineering and administration.

  • Monitoring Datacenter infrastructure using the monitoring tools.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Who is USP Looking For?

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:

  • Bachelors / Master’s Degree in a computer science.

  • At least 7 years of experience in a system engineering or administration role.

Additional Desired Preferences

  • Certifications in MCSE or AZURE is desirable.

  • Knowledge on Hitachi and Netapp storage platforms

  • Knowledge on HPE server environment

  • Knowledge on VMWare environment

  • Knowledge on Commvault backup and recovery environment
