Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design or assist in the design, development, debugging, and integration of hardware for ADTRAN's product family.
  • Design or assist in the design of Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) for advanced, very high-speed communications products.
  • Design or assist in the design of hardware architecture, schematic capture, prototype testing, and PCB layout review.
  • Troubleshoot regulatory compliance failures.
  • Lead hardware architecture development efforts.
  • Lead projects and oversee other engineer's design and architecture decisions.
  • Assist others within engineering and tech support in debugging issues.
  • Provide input in determining the level of effort required for hardware and product features requested from product management.
  • Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.
  • Work with software, mechanical and power supply teams to optimize design and architecture decisions.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or Computer Engineering) required.
  • 12-15 years of prior experience demonstrating specialized knowledge within the Engineering field, experience in leadership, and project management.
  • Strong communication skills needed to interface with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, technical writers, and others.
  • Experience with high-speed data buses, serializers, deserializers, signal integrity issues required.
  • Experience with the use of large-scale FPGAs and with lead-free PCB design required.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of analog design principles and architecture skills required.
  • No travel is expected for this position.

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or Computer Engineering) preferred.
  • Experience with regulatory EMI/EMC compliance requirements for telecom equipment is preferred.
  • Experience with Ethernet and Passive Optical Networking
  • Experience with implementation and validation of DDRx/LPDDRx, PCIex and embedded microcontrollers.
