Cimarron Software Services, Inc. Software Systems Engineer in Huntington Beach, California

Cimarron is seeking aSoftware Systems Engineerto support anElectro-Optical (EO) / Infra-Red (IR) Mission Systems team in Huntington Beach, CA. The selected candidate for this position will support the systems engineering for Software, Firmware, and algorithm development supporting prototype EO/IR sensing systems for airborne and space platforms.

Key Duties:

  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop, and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
  • Lead the evaluation of customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces.
  • Identify, define, and maintain internal and external software/firmware interfaces and associated documentation.
  • Plan and lead software/firmware qualification testing in both simulated environments and on flight hardware for verification and validation of requirements.
  • Interface with program leadership and the customer on technical design issues and present on software/firmware system designs.
  • Lead analyses to optimize the total system of systems and/or system architecture.
  • Lead analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance, and otherquality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
  • Lead, develop, maintain, and identify improvements for the planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of the requirements management processes, FPGA/firmware/software configuration management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management, and technology readiness assessment processes.
  • Lead activities to develop and maintain full documentation of architecture, algorithms, FPGA/firmware, software, and system interfaces.
  • Plan and lead research projects to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.

TRAVEL REQUIRED/DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance.
  • 5 or moreyears of experience in systems engineering for FPGA/firmware or software systems.
  • 5 or moreyears of experience with embedded and/or ground software design, development, debugging, and performing software integration, test, validation, and verification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Active Top Secret Clearance.
  • 10 or moreyears of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience applying systems engineering principles during the development of complex hardware/software solutions on an aerospace platform.
  • Experience providing systems engineering for research and development contracts.
  • Experience as a chief engineer or systems engineering IPT lead with weapons design, software avionics/avionics/electrical design, and weapons system architecture.
  • Experience writing software for real-time digital signal processing for aerospace and defense applications.
  • Experience working with technical teams either as an Integrated Project Team (IPT) lead or technical SME (Subject Matter Expert) on System Engineering or FPGA/Firmware/Software Engineering applications.
  • Experience developing the avionics architecture supporting FPGA/firmware/software.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships, strategic partnerships, and supplier performance.
