Summary:

Fluent across the full technology stack; owns delivery and support responsibility for two or more product or platform teams; drives technical priorities; supports delivery efforts through technical advisory, coaching of other technical team members, and may also support hands-on execution; ensures technical consistency of the finished product with identified needs. Leadership of direct reports - Software Engineers. Takes ownership of and is accountable for a portfolio of products, features, components, or solutions in a team leadership role and associated performance metrics. Engage directly with customers to ensure delivery of a high-quality, robust, and scalable product on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Drives technical priorities and owns delivery and support responsibility for one or more product or platform teams

  • Oversees agile development activities for a product or platform and leads the development of key mechanisms that support agile delivery

  • Collaborates between interdependent groups to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and cross-team dependencies

  • May sometimes provide hands-on assistance with exceptionally complex technical solutions, operating as a senior engineer

  • Engages with other technical stakeholders (operations, enterprise architecture, etc.) as necessary to manage technical requirements; facilitates estimation of costs and effort of work items

  • Ensure the engineering and technical considerations are accounted for in team rituals

  • Ensures that the delivery team commits to achievable and realistic goals and includes the entire team in the estimation / planning process to obtain diverse perspectives

  • Leads the technical design of the products or platforms and ensures that the prescribed architecture, security, development best practices, and agile best practices are adhered to

  • Reports on detailed progress and issues to team members and business stakeholders

  • Creates timeline of delivery schedule for work activities

  • Ensuring that environments and teams are adequately scoped, planned and established matching skills and resources required.

  • Demonstrate independent and creative in approach to problems and issues

  • Demonstrate ability to assimilate new knowledge and technologies

  • Own end to end technical solution delivery

  • Demonstrate ability to gather functional knowledge over functions supported by the platform/products they support and ability to drive workshops designing solutions.

  • Solves escalated issues and directly contributes to problem resolution. Acts as a coach during conflict management and leverages crisis management techniques.

  • Rapidly adapts to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles. Adjusts project plans based on input from staff and stakeholders.

  • Determines objectives, sets priorities, and delegates work.

  • Ensures project(s) is aligned with strategic vision and subsequent priorities.

  • Responsible and accountable for a portfolio of products, features, components, or solutions in a team leadership role and associated performance metrics.

  • Develops project teams and staffing plans based on consideration of strategic objectives and vision.

  • Support senior leadership and finance business partner on IT business case creation.

  • Considers financial data when making decisions.

  • Directly communicates with a broad range of business and technical stakeholders across the organization.

  • Utilizes advanced knowledge to deliver technical presentations to a variety of audiences including key stakeholders.

  • Synthesizes data and other information to arrive at insights and develop compelling stories for team members and/or stakeholders.

  • Identifies risks and their potential outcomes and implements working solutions.

  • Serves as an industry authority and thought leader internally.

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in CS or 5-7 years of software development experience, including 1 year in a dev focused leadership role

  • 8+ years of experience in developing and supporting high performance and highly scalable applications in an agile environment, depending on education

  • Extensive hands-on experience with the underlying technologies of product/platform (programming languages, databases, application integration etc.)

  • Strong understanding of Scrum, Lean, XP, Kanban and other agile development techniques

  • Fluency in DevOps, including continuous integration, continuous deployment / delivery, configuration and containerization, infrastructure as a code, and monitoring
