GE Vernova Material Handler - 2nd Shift in Houston, Texas

Job Description Summary

The primary focus of the Material Handler is to transport parts and materials throughout the facility by delivering parts destined to be shipped to repair vendors utilizing a forklift. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering and managing scrap part inventory and have the opportunity to learn how to receive and package parts.

A Material Handler is a Lean production personnel role centered around timely and accurate stock replenishment. The Material Handler is tasked with keeping workstations fully stocked with materials, thus controlling the continuous flow of productivity. The person filling the material handler position needs to have a good understanding of the process, excellent communication skills, and has got to be able to follow standardized routes.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Material Handler, you will:

• Move very expensive parts utilizing a forklift throughout the facility to appropriate locations as required in a timely manner without compromising safety and quality

• Manage crate and box inventory

• Deliver and manage scrap parts inventory

• Visually inspect repaired parts for handling damage and receive them per process

• Crate and box parts utilizing a foam machine, saw and other tools

• Perform work in accordance with standard procedures, specifications, and quality documentation

• Communicate with team members using a computer

• Ensure compliance with all EHS procedures and requirements

• Perform documentation of overall material movement and hand-offs as assigned neatly, accurately, and legibly

• Communicate status of parts to meet production needs.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a warehouse, stockroom and/or storage yard

• Certified to operate a forklift or the ability to be certified under GE standards

• Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Outlook and Excel)

• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English language

• Ability and willingness to lift, push, and pull at least 40 pounds

• Ability and willingness to operate a forklift over 15,000 pounds

• Ability and willingness to work in a variety of weather conditions

Desired Characteristics:

• Capability to actively work on multiple tasks at the same time

• Strong verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Certified in crane and rigging operations

The pay for this position is $20.57 Hour USD. This position is also eligible for a Night shift bonus as well as a 4% Aero Alliance bonus. Date to close 6/3/2024
