About this Role

  • Land surveying technicians compile information necessary to stake projects for construction using engineering plans. The survey technician is able communicate with customers and state entities out in the field.

What You'll Do

Essential Functions

  • Tracks projects according to client and company procedures from inception to completion.

  • Attending site visits with customers and state entities

  • Solid proficiency with survey equipment and reading engineering/civil plans.

  • Research public records for supporting documents for engineering and surveying projects

  • Performs all work using appropriate safety procedures

  • Maintains accurate records and notes, and of office work activities

    Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 2 years of tech/instrument man

  • Operation of Leica CS20 a plus

    Travel

    Local travel will be required with potential of travel around the state of Texas.

    Position Type/Hours

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm or 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional overtime may be required as jobs demand.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in an outside setting exposed to outdoor weather conditions; however, in some instances it will be necessary to work in a professional office environment with routine use of office equipment.

    Physical Requirements

    The position requires manual dexterity, standing, walking, and the ability to lift equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.

What You'll Bring

Competencies

  • Strong Critical Thinking skills and Attention to Detail

  • Work independently with little to no supervision

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and routine office equipment

  • Familiarity with easements and right-of-ways

  • Basic understanding of CAD drafting software is a plus

  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license

  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
