The mission of Oxy Low Carbon Ventures, LLC (OLCV) is to extend Occidental’s distinct competitive advantage in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) and to explore other low carbon opportunities.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Commercial Development Director for the Low Carbon Ventures, 1PointFive Sequestration organization in Houston, TX.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Set strategic direction for, and lead the negotiation of, CO2 transportation arrangements for the 1PointFive Sequestration business
  • Cultivate senior relationships with business contacts at current and future midstream partner companies, and potential new customers (industrial emitters)
  • Play a pivotal role in commercial leadership and work closely with technical, financial, and marketing and DAC (Direct Air Capture) teams
  • Prepare and negotiate customer contracts for carbon offtake and sequestration.
  • Direct efforts to establish and maintain pricing structures to maximize overall revenue and cash flow.
  • Provide insights into and anticipate customer challenges and needs that can be solved by today’s and tomorrow’s offerings.
  • Partner with and support the Business on ad hoc strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Work effectively with business planning to develop short-mid-long term commercial objectives.
  • Extensive, senior level experience in a commercial role is required.
  • Experience working on tenders and complex offers to clients is desirable.
  • Superior analytical, relationship building, strategic thinking and negotiation skills
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and think on the fly
  • Ability to coordinate across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated belief in and commitment to climate change mitigation and broader sustainability objectives.
  • Persuasive / Professional Communication - communication via phone, email, and when presenting is professional, informative, concise, and takes into consideration all audience members.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Business Administration or related field of study.
  • 12 years of commercial experience in a related role such as Business Development, M&A, Banking/Finance and strategy.
  • Experience in commercial development, deal structuring and negotiations
  • Direct experience in the development of pipeline infrastructure or experience in the negotiation of pipeline transportation arrangements is a requirement for the role
  • Contract management experience.
  • High energy, ability to deal with ambiguity and driven, proactive self-management are needed for this role
