Position Description

Primary purpose:

Maintain corporate values providing internal/external support services to all Kinder Morgan business units, shared service departments and assets.

Other duties include the ability to coordinate and facilitate Business Continuity planning activities. Interact with the critical business units and support groups for the purpose of planning, directing, controlling, and maintaining the contingency planning effort in a supporting role. The incumbent would be a team member responsible for interfacing with various entities within Kinder Morgan for a broad range of Emergency Response, Disaster and Business Unit Recovery functions utilizing an all-hazards approach for risk mitigations and maintaining operational continuity.

This is not an IT/information systems position. The IT department is responsible for the technical aspects of data Disaster Recovery, and physical restoration. The role of Business Continuity is to support preparation, response and recovery functions for business unit operations, IT, and corporate infrastructure.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • ·Continuously improve the Business Continuity and Crisis Support process focusing on the implementation and execution of all related items.

  • Work extended hours when involved in the planning, preparations, response, and recovery of an event that has the potential business operations disruption.

  • Prepare written documentation, interactive training modules, presentations, schedules, and clearly communicate the Business Continuity and Crisis Support processes to key stake holders.

  • Exhibit the ability to process information rapidly for problem resolution during a crisis situation and articulate solutions to business unit and corporate leaders.

  • Develop specific schedules for annual Business Continuity plan updates and ensure compliance for meeting deadlines.

  • Effectively execute specific exercises/tabletop drills to ensure efficiency in the process to plan, prepare, respond & recover utilizing various real-world scenarios.

  • Provide expertise and support to Business Unit management and functional areas as requested when a disruption occurs.

  • Field level experience working within the confines of the NIMS/ICS structure in a variety of assigned roles and responsibilities.

  • Act as the key interface with business unit leaders and corporate communications during a crisis response impacting the public in order to effectively facilitate the operation of Public Response Hotline and On-Site Public Evacuation Liaison functions.

  • Aid in developing and implementing a process to identify/classify asset risk.

  • Analyze and report on implications of regulatory requirements and industry guidance for Business Continuity/Disaster Response programs.

  • Exhibit the ability to network across various business functions within a multi-matrix oil and gas business model.

  • Working in a team environment exhibiting leadership skills.

  • Travel as required to respond to an event on short notice when needed to support an event response.

  • Develop and maintain department guidance document and electronic filing systems.

  • Ensure ongoing improvement through evaluation of current processes.

  • Assist with updating and migrating procedures into proper format.

  • Ability to work across all Business Units and various levels of leadership.

  • Technical writing skills with the ability to understand verbal and written communications, including but not limited to email, department procedure, processes, and guidelines.

  • Assist in project and event coordination.

  • Other daily, weekly, and monthly duties, and special projects, as assigned.

    Position Requirements

    Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent is required.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree will be taken into consideration but not required.

  • Relative experience in Business Continuity, Emergency Response, and/or Incident Command Systems (ICS) related experience.

Experience / specific knowledge:

  • Relevant transferable skillsets and experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry, is desirable.

  • Direct work experience or background in NIMS ICS, Business Continuity, and Disaster Response responsibilities is a plus.

  • Basic knowledge of key financial terms and principles.

Competencies, skills, and abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications for the purpose of word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, and information retrieval.

  • Out of the box thinker that is a initiative-taker and works well within a team environment.

  • Must possess and regularly demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Multi-tasking with the ability to successfully organize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously, frequently under strict deadlines.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to successfully perform the required and expected duties with little direct supervision.

  • Ability to work within a team environment, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules and adhere to established work schedules.

  • A satisfactory driving record is determined by the Company and a valid State driver’s license is required for this role.

Physical demands:

  • Working in an office environment and work from home days as workload activities permit.

Working conditions:

  • Modern office location in Houston, TX.

  • Up to 10 to 20 percent travel.

  • Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets.

  • The successful candidate required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:

Above the minimum requirements, not required but advantageous in this position:

  • Progressively responsible administrative responsibilities, specific to contract management/administration and/or risk management/insurance field, are highly desirable.

  • Experience conducting statistical analyses of data with a high degree of Microsoft Office knowledge.

  • Experience with purchasing or contract management software.

  • Negotiating and auditing as it pertains to material and service providers.
