Summary About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Fort Belvoir, VA. Responsibilities Evaluates, plans and distributes work assignments on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Develops performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability to lead or supervise Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Employee serves as warehouse worker when necessary and therefore must be able to lift up to 70 pounds repeatedly and for long periods of time. Performs extensive walking and standing and climbs self-standing ladders up to 15 feet high. Employee must be able to physically operate materiel handling equipment such as pallet jack, handcart, and forklift. WORKING CONDITIONS: Administrative functions are performed in an office area within a warehouse however all other functions are performed in a warehouse environment under extremely hot and cold temperatures. No air conditioning and very little heat exists in the storage area. It is necessary to leave sliding doors open for long periods of time while loading and unloading trucks creating severe drafts. A roof is the only protection against weather while loading and unloading trucks. Work surfaces are concrete. Must wear appropriate safety equipment such as steel toed safety shoes, eye wear, hardhat, and gloves (which is provided by employer).
