Universal Engineering Sciences Special Inspector II in Flagstaff, Arizona
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Drives to project locations; Consistently shows up for work as scheduled
Completes tasks and submits completed paperwork within appropriate time frame
Works in a field setting in close proximity to construction activity and heavy construction equipment
Perform structural observations and write detailed reports summarizing observations
Monitors construction work in progress to determine whether work is being performed to specification and is in compliance with approved plans, codes, and related requirements
Inspection assignments involve primarily non-residential buildings and focus on structural masonry, reinforced concrete, pre/post tension concrete, structural steel and welding, fireproofing; testing, quality control, administration, and technical review
Communicate field observations and test results; Promptly notifies supervisor, project manager(s) and dispatcher of problems or changes that arise on project; Prioritizes calls from supervisor, project manager(s) and/or dispatch
Communicate with managers, show commitment as a team player, organize work, manage time effectively, and adhere to established safety procedures

Must be fluent in English
Written – Handwriting must be legible; must be able to compose correspondence and prepare required reports, completely and accurately
Verbal – Must be able to receive and follow through on instructions; maintains lines of communication, and communicates effectively, with supervisor, co-workers, clients, and contractors
Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, co-workers, clients, contractors, and agencies

Required Qualifications:
Must be certified in, minimum, one ICC Certification (ICC Masonry, ICC Reinforced Concrete) and willing to obtain other certifications as soon as possible
Minimum of 1 year of experience working in Special Inspections
Must possess ICC certification in either Structural Masonry or Reinforced Concrete (the reinforced concrete certification would also require a current ACI Field Grade I certification); additional certifications (ICC, AWS, Post Tension I, or EIFS), a plus
Minimum 2+ years of Construction Materials Testing or other construction-related experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills; Basic math skills (simple algebra)
Valid driver’s license
